Well, after seeing the various threads about bowfishing and how much fun it is I decided to give it a try.
I took an old bow I picked up at a yard sale about two years ago thinking I'd get into it at some point, spent a lousy $40 on a cheap bowfishing set-up, and put it all together last night. (The setup itself was only $10. I bought an extra arrow, tip, and extra line too)
Man did I have a blast! I've probably only shot a bow a handful of times in my life so I was wondering how I'd do. Well, I nailed one on my first shot! (Pure luck!!!!) I then went a couple hours with miss after miss before I finally started getting the hang of it. By the end of the day I was hitting more than I was missing and was having so much fun that I really didn't want to leave. However, by this time my little boy was gettin' hungry so I decided to call it a day and go get him something to eat.
Here's a couple pics of the first two I got to the bank (I had two of em slip off the arrow, including my first one). As you can see, my set-up if FAR from as nice as some of them I've seen on here. If I continue to have this much fun though I can certainly see myself upgrading as I go along. Heck, my little man already wants me to set him up too (I'm certainly going to look into it for him). He also made me include a pic of the Largemouth he caught while I was bowfishing too.
They aren't the biggest carp in the Snake but I'm not complaining one freakin' bit!
