Westside Elk
« on: December 27, 2011, 06:06:48 PM »
Did anyone hunt down around  Mccleary. I've seen big herd between Clear Creek Casino and Mccleary.
Just wondering if there is Land available to hunt.

The herd you see is called the McDonald herd.  The land they are on is the McDonald farm.  No hunting them there.  There is a lot of timber co. land around there.  Your only option is to find the timberland and hope they are there during the season.

http://www.co.mason.wa.us/gis/index.php

Click the "Map Mason Map viewer".  Use the tool to zoom in.  Once you get in close enough, you can click on the plots with the "Identify" button and a pop up comes up with info about the land owner.  Not a whole lot of Mason County in that area but, should be enough to where you can find the timber co. land and get you close to the elk
