African paste food?
« on: January 04, 2012, 09:20:08 PM »
Saw this stuff in a feed the starving children of africa ad a few weeks ago. Apparently it is really cheap and small but high in calories. I would think it would be a great emergency ration in the bottom of my pack kind of thing to save space. I've been looking high and low for it but I can't find it. Anyone ever tried it? Does anyone know where to get it? I'm military so as long as it doesn't taste bad enough to make me gag its good enough for me.

Found it, it's called plumpy'nut. I'll make my own since they don't actually sell it.

I found this when I Goggled African Paste Food:

http://www.survival-warehouse.com/food/SOS_Emergency_Food.htm

6 bars weighs 17 oz. That's a two-day supply of food.

I'm guessing I wasn't the only one interested in this idea?  :chuckle:
