Moose, Idaho side of Mt. Spokane and Unit 2 in General.
« on: May 19, 2012, 07:53:32 AM »
A guy I know from Boise drew the Oct1-14 moose tag for unit two. I've got good intel there, because my dad lives there, but I know a lot of you guys have hammered that ID/WA line for moose and deer over the years and am putting feelers out for that area for him. What quality bulls are around there? He's gonna be looking for a good bull and is going to hunt the entire 2 weeks...

Thanks for anything,

Ernie

I would think it's just a matter of holding out for a good bull. From what I have heard the wolves have not cleaned that unit out yet.

Thats what I was thinking too Dale, that it'll either be early luck or just sticking with it till the big one steps out... they are there, the numbers are good... lots of older animals.

Have seen many bulls In the last couple years and can defiantly let you know what I see this summer and fall.  I am out and about a lot in the unit since I live in it also.  These sheds were picked up this last winter in the unit and I know of two bulls that are bigger.  It is hard to tell but this bull has double brows and I think is about 47" wide on the conservative side.

Doug, its all that country from Spokane, north to Newport, then over to hiway 95 that runs from CDA to Sandpoint. Back side of Mt. Spokane.... all that ID/WA line from I90 to Newport.

There's gotta be some good bulls in there! Well, and Coop pretty much proved that already!

Well, as I mentioned before, anyone willing to "share" their moose spots... pm me or whatever, call, I dont care. Im sure some of you get as big a thrill out of helping someone else get a nice moose as I do!

I know I've seen a lot of moose right off of Blanchard Pass, but I have never seen a good bull in there. Surely they are there. Is this country known for big huge bulls or just mediocre bulls??

Thanks all.

There are big bulls back there.. I would highly suggest going to spirit lake to the IEP checkpoint and heading in there..some great country in there with tons of logging roads and lots of clearcuts. Alot to glass in there.

I'm the guy Hornseeker is helping out with the Idaho unit 2 moose tag. I apprecieate all the responses you guys sent and look foward to to the 1 Oct hunt.
I'm in the military and wont be back in country till rite before the hunt so scouting will be limited to one day! I will have limited internet access this summer so I can drop in as time allows.

Thanks again!

We saw 2 moose near Pritchard Saturday. I think that's not even close to unit 2.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
