MagKarl:
First, make sure that thing is really a 6L.  There were some early 03 models built with 7.3L, very desirable.  I would be very cautious buying an 03 or 04, but feel a lot better with a later model.  Do some research online on what they call an Oasis Report.  Get the VIN and have an Oasis run.  It is a documentation report that will disclose all warranty repairs done on that vehicle.  There are thousands of guys on forums like this venting about their problems with the 6L, but there are many times more that are happy owners.  There are good ones out there, just harder to find.  Love my 7.3.

Pulled the travel trailer over Hwy 2 this weekend up to Blewett Pass. Averaged 17.8mpg!  :IBCOOL:

also look into joining NW Ford Diesels http://nwforddiesel.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

Lots of good info on Fords there.  :hello:

I should tell you that mine was a 04 and i heard that the 05 and 06 were fine. I don't know about the 03.I talked to a ford mechanic and he said the 04 had a bad manifold design and The carbon would build up.That would lead to pieces of carbon breaking off and clogging an injector.
