6.5 creedmoor reviews??

Goshawk:

I've enjoyed shooting the guns I've handled in it, not because it's the latest fad to trip down the 6.5 line but because I do like to see these middle ground calibers making a comeback. There was a time when the concept of "enough gun" was understood.  Now like jacked up trucks with golf balls in gloves, if you don't have a hard kicking caliber with a brain numbing muzzle break you're just not a real shooter.

The 6.5 along with the 7x08, 308, 270win puts holes in targets, game animals down and is a pleasure to shoot.

Unless you're going after big bears, there's really nothing to dislike.

the thing i notice (and what makes me slightly upset) about the 6.5CM is for how new of a cartridge it is, it is really inexpensive to buy good ammo for.  i'm talking sub-$20 a box.

i saw remington cor-lokt ammo rolled out in 6.5CM for something like $18.99 a box advertised.  don't see why they'd do that, when they charge around $30 for .260 and nearly as much for 7mm-08.  it's almost like they want their own offspring to fail.

i remember when i was shopping for a "nice" hunting rifle in 2009, ruger was making the M77 in 6.5 creedmoor.  it looked attractive to me but it was such a new chambering at the time, and you'd maybe see one ammo offering on the shelf.  i ended up going with a 7mm-08 instead.  things seem to have exploded in the past year or two, now it's everywhere.

That's called economy of scale. Price per individual unit is lower when you're making them in higher volumes. 6.5 Creedmoor is being produced and sold in much higher volumes than .260, 7/08, etc, so the ammo is cheaper. Same reason why 9mm ammo is usually cheaper than .380 Auto.

These are what I shoot. I haven't used on on a deer yet, but I've got faith they should perform. Less than $.9 a round.

IMO, the real winner, with regard to the 6.5 Creed, is the marketing department because they've taken a ho hum middle of the road performing cartridge and turned it into a superstar.
