Sportsmen lost a huge hunting advocate on Saturday.
Special T:
On Saturday morning sportsmen lost one of their dedicated advocates, Ray Crisp. While out on the course at Straight Arrow Bowmen's Western Classic Trail Shoot He had a massive heart attack. Ray was a fixture in the Archery community. He provided decades of service to his Home Club of Capitol City Bowmen and to the Washington State Archery Association. He held many positions in each of the organizations, but long tenures as President in both. His job working in electrical contracting and management of large projects, many of which were state projects, gave him unique insight on how to advocate for sportsmen. He was an outside the box thinker not hindered by emotion or dogmatic thinking. One time when talking to him about a hunting issue I made a comment about how stupid the department was. The kind of statement most of us have made. His response made me realize how short sited and ignorant my statement was. He told me if you want to make a difference dealing in departmental issues approach solutions in shades of grey. Ray was always kind, and usually had a good story to convey the message/lesson. Most Archers I've talked to found him to be a happy Jovial man, even looking a little like St Nick. He did have a have a reputation for being a stubborn bulldog with a bone, but normally in pursuit of solving a problem for the betterment of others.
Advocates in the sportsmen world come in many shapes & from many unique backgrounds. One thing binds them all. Time dedicated to solving problems and learning the issues.
SuperX:
Ray will be sorely missed. He was a tireless worker on behalf of archers and hunters of all stripes and a joy to work with. My heart goes out to his wife Sheri and family.

For sure. When I heard about this I was truly saddened. He was very passionate and a great advocate for our sport. He will be missed. I am happy that he went doing what he loved. That is how I want to go.
Prayers to his family as they deal with his sudden loss.
