WWA:
The Veteran’s hunt was held on Sunday, November 13th. The veteran’s hunt is put on in conjunction with The
Fallen Outdoors and Ridgefield NWR to help selected Veterans get outdoors and experience waterfowl hunting and
encourage them in the activity and possibly inspire a lifelong passion. Dave Lescalleet and his wife Cindy checked in
veteran’s and their mentors as well as checking the birds at the end of the special hunt.
A catered Mexican lunch was held in the refuge
maintenance building following the morning hunt. Inconjunction with Fallen Outdoors, we provided
commemorative Ridgefield NWR logo duck calls, shot shells, Sitka waterfowl coats, and a drawing for prizes at
the lunch.  Thanks to Branden Trager and his guys at The Fallen Outdoors for all their efforts to make this a great
experience for our veterans. Thanks also to the veterans that partcipated, and the following WWA members for
help with guiding/mentoring: Dave Mason, Bob Taylor, Bruce Head, Branden Trager, Justin Boardman, John
Dorn, Jacob Pachter, Emily Kirchner, Caleb Benson, Jarrid Robinson, Eric Diehl, John Kiser and USFWS Chadd
Smith. Thanks to Ridgefield NWR staff for their help including: Refuge Manager Juliette Fernandez, Refuge
Assistants Eric Anderson and Chadd Smith. Juliette was able to Join Branden in a blind that morning!
