Boar:
That’s the nature of Bison “harvest”, it has never really been a “hunt” in the 1000’s of years humans have been after them, farmed or wild.  Too big, slow and dumb to look after themselves and survive serious predation threats; a lot closer to a cow than an elk.

Yes, although the skill required for the killing of a bison at full gallop on horseback with a bow and arrow or spear that you made yourself is admirable and not what's going to happen on this shoot. Historically, the motivation for the Plains Indians to hunt bison was the survival of their people and culture. Their, food, clothing, shelter, even weapons all came from the bison. What's occurring here certainly has nothing to do with subsistence or survival. If you pay $5K+, you get to kill what's basically a domestic animal. You'll likely be able to drive to the spot from where you shoot it. There's no comparison. For me certainly, there would be no sense of accomplishment. As I've said, I'd rather spend that money on a guided elk hunt on public land. The sense of accomplishment would be much greater.
CP:
Yeah, not really a hunt.

The only reason I can see crap talking about these buffalo shoots or any buffalo shoots is if the shooter is gloating about some majestic achievement. This seems like a good way to get a couple freezers full of really fantastic and healthy meat along with a cool mount. Maybe some sort of buffalo skin blanket or perhaps a jacket. Don't tell your friends on hunt-wa that you killed it with a stick and string at full gallop and you're good with me. Mmmm mmmm mmm a bison brisket on the GMG...bring it on.

Here's a description of a hunt.

How We Hunt

After animals are located, we will glass the herd to locate the right animal for you. Then we'll make a careful approach with the "vehicle" to get you safely within range for the shot! Buffalo are unpredictable and have been known to charge humans and vehicles, so hunters need to stay in the vehicle for their own safety. When we are within range you will get out to shoot the animal. If you do not like the animal suggested by the guide, you need to tell him before you shoot that you do not want that animal. Once you shoot an animal it's your animal. Next, we'll wait for the herd to move off for everyone's safety. Then we field dress and load the animal and go to the skinning area. Local cutting and wrapping is available or we'll load the carcass into your vehicle for your return trip back home. Shipping can be arranged if needed, but it's far cheaper to transport your buffalo with you.

Someone care to guess who wrote this?

This is a cull management hunt simple as that.
