Bear seasons right around the corner :IBCOOL:. Less than a month to go i cant wait. Hoping i can post the first fall bear again.
-
Dang, looking outside I thought it was still April. Probably gonna be hot as hell come August.
I have two months two wait.....NE corner.
-
That's ok ill still be out.
-
I'm with yah D.......ready to get out..
-
Cant wait! i think its bull How the mashell unit doesnt open til the 15th. Kapowsin hancock property has so many bears.
-
I'm after my first this year. Still pretty much in the dark after 2 years of chasing them. Sooner or later I'll get one
-
I'm pretty jacked. the 1st is my day off and ill be out. been scouting a lot and have some good looking spots for opening day
-
30 days from today, yeah buddy. I sure hope my ankle is better by then. I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow so I hope to know something soon. I'm really bummed about this injury, because I had a couple of area's that I wanted to keep an eye on after spring bear season ended. I know where a couple hung out. Anyway, I hope to see you out in the woods in a month or so.
-
Been looking at some dandy bears and can't wait to get my chance! I just hope and pray they stick around another few weeks
-

Same here. My hunting buddy and I chased them last August before he took off for deployment. We're excited to get back out after 'em. But still have a lot of learning to do.
-
Normally i would take the 1st off but im not this year. Just planning to hunt the evenings all week.
-
I have no classes in august so here is to hoping .....would be super if my first success was a bear.....
-
I can't wait, sucks I can't hunt my wilderness spots till the 15th tho. I stick to the coast the first two weeks, but I have yet to see a damn bear in season on the coast :bash:. High country bears is one of my favorite hunting
-
holy crap..it is less than a month.
I know I have been checking berry patches, just as I drive or walk here and there.....its gonna be an awesome year I think......cant wait to post some more calling stories!
-
:'( :'( Still out of the area with the military. Was hopeing to make it back before the 1st, but don't think that will happen. Oh well save me one D Rock. :chuckle:
-
U guys got my blood pumping can't wait till season opens its gonna be a good year I only got 2 weekends I can go until deer starts so it's gonna be a quick one for me!
-
hopfully we get some sun or the berrys will be poor. I hope the black berrys are ripe before elk season. It sucks when the prime berry season is durring elk season.
-

I noticed the wild strawberries are coming in nicely where ive been scouting. Im hoping my bear will taste like strawberry jam :chuckle:
-
The stars alligning isn't all we need :yike: :yike:
-
The sun gods have answered our prayers! Supposed to be sunny for the next 9 day's anyway. I wish this ankle would heal enough for me to get out and scout. This really sucks!
-
Don't need an ankle to drive a boat and pull pots!
-
Nope! That's what I have FC and my 13 y.o for! :chuckle: Actually I can drive it just fine, It's getting in and out that hurts a little.
-
man im excited as all hell about bear season.it will not only b my first bear but my first archery hunt.im fixin on gettin dropped off up in pend orielle cnty for a week right in the start.i think i know where some good ones are.i just have no idea how to keep the meat good in this heat.any advice would be greatly appreciated
-
Thinking about taking a walk Sunday to check out a few spots. Still not sure if im taking opening day off or just hunting after work.
-
I'm taking the first 3 days plus the weekend. Then if need be, it'll just be weekend hunting for me.
-
I seem to see more bears in the evening hours anyway so i think ill just stick to hunting after work.
-
Took the gf and 2yr old out for a drive tonight and seen the first bear of the year :IBCOOL: would have been an easy pack and even easier shot
-
24 days.
-
Getting closer, and I would agree with D-Rock; mostley see them in the evening.
-
I seem to see more in the evenings but i do hunt way more in the evening
-
Seen two yesterday and the first was at 130 in the afternoon. Next was around 730. Pretty happy to say the least.
-
My buddy was driving home yesterday and said a bear was hit by a car between rockport and darington.
-
My surgeon called and left me a message today about my ankle. The MRI showed very little bone damage, but extensive tissue damage. They will probably have to reattach some ligaments and tendons. I go in next week to discuss my options. My season may be over before it starts. That really sucks!
-
We can have h20hunter piggy back you in :dunno:
-
I bet with a game cart we can get you back in a bit.
-
My wife's birthday is the 1st of August so i'm screwed till she divorces me.
-
Just go bear hunting it will happen soon enough.
-
OK, so if I let you guy's piggy back me in or cart me in, are you going to pack me and my bear out? Or leave me there and take my bear? :yike: I needs to know! :chuckle:
-

You are too kind!

Moving into my new place on the 17th this month and the owner said there is a Huge bear that eats the fruit off our trees in the front yard. Cant wait to hunt my own yard lol He isnt a hunter so dont now how huge it really is he just said its the biggest he has seen and noone else hunts around there. There was a big 4x4 blacktail with a huge body in the yard, not sure I will shoot the deer untill I see how many are around.
-
Sure be nice to stick a bear with a bow this year.
-
hey D-ROCK425, if i remmber right your the fella that helped post the pics of my sons bear and deer, AKA, fatheads deer and fatheads bear.... well if ya are and time gets to be an issue pm me and ya can probably come crack the other black bear that is still roaming around the back yard somewhere, it will probably reach 350 to 400 pounds
-
I dont think im that guy but for the sake of the bear hunt yes yes i was.
-
I get more and more excited everyday. :IBCOOL: hmm where to hunt opening day :dunno:
-
My trigger finger is itchin' somthin' fearce. I will be in NE WA opening weekend but I am taking my bow just in case. After that, I will be all over Ft Lewis.
I will have to check on it, but, the way I see it, with Archery, I can hunt for bear no matter what the other season is, as long as I use my bow and don't get stupid and drop the wrong animal. That means I can hunt from 1 Aug straight through to 15 Nov, or until I fill, at least, one bear tag. I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!
-
Man i wish the NE and the SE would open in August. My buddy has a cinnamon at his place up north and there is a blonde on my inlaws ground down south. I have a problem waiting for september and usually settle on a black in august on the east slope.
-
I'm pumped thinking of by cle elum again got to look to see if it is a eastside bear area. Hunting later colville. So know were the bears are on the coast or Randle to trout lake. Will be calling only built a bunch of calls this year so i can hunt more. Going to use elk calls a bunch and my Closed reed for Raspy distress. Put a new scope on my Browning stainless stalker 270 short magnum. It is a nikon monarch 2.5 x 10 x 42 wich i use for calling on my 22-250. Very excited this is what i live for calling predators. Rick
-
Heres a couple pics I got off my cameras today.
-
Great pics but with the feeder there doesn't that mean you can't hunt that spot? :dunno:
-
Not bear hunting this spot anyways. This is our deer spot or was LOL darn bears wont leave it alone, I will have to raise it up off the ground now I guess...
-
Cool pics still.
-
Yes, Cool pic.
I was in the WDFW office at Mill Creek today and saw a mounted bear cub and a mountain lion cub also mounted up. I asked if someone really shot the little buggers and they said they were actually road kill that they had taxidermied for educational purposes. Cute when they are that small. Too bad they grow up to be fawn killers and worse...
-
Wow YJ! The brown one in the first pick is friggin HUGE! ill bet its close to a 7 square easy.
-
We dont hunt them so not much into the bear thing. This is the first time we've had them around the farm at all and have seen 5 of them lately...
-
Yes love the pics.
-
Went scouting today...saw sign up high and down low...looks pretty promising. Few more weeks gents.
-

im counting the days haven't been able to do any scouting yet been working to many 12 &13 hour days at work. Hopefully we should be done with this crazy rush by the 1st.
-
14 days.
-
Going in blind myself. Gonna find a clear cut up north of the Skokomish and squeal on my fawn in distress and see where that gets me.
-

I found a good spot yesterday for you to do that.
-
Since my ankle still wont allow me to get out and hike, I'm thinking of going over by Winthrop. I just read about a guy that shoots bears right off his porch! He supplies all you can eat donuts too, how cool is that? :chuckle:

-
   Doughnuts
Save some for me! I'll drive
-
Look at it this way D-Rock. At least the doughnuts over by Winthrop will keep them away from C-Post.
-
Found her again this morning. If she did'nt have twins with her I could find her first light opening day and be done. Oh well it's not just about the kill it's about the time in the woods and the thrill of the stalk!!! Here's to hoping the boars around, Good Luck Everyone!!!
-
I'll be up in the Hancock Snoqualmie over the next two weeks looking for likely spots. Happy to make room in the Sub for any other permit holders (I wish it was a vehicle permit like the old days). First year in the Hancock so if anyone feels like giving me a good idea I'd appreciate it. I figure to head up the mainline and then work down finding berry patches in 3-4 year old reprod if I can until I hit Index.
-
I guess you are right goldeneye.

That's a easy one. Just go sit at lake fury and watch the far bank. I can't count how many times I've been fishing and had bear come down to the lake.
-
I used to see them all over winthrop, but haven't hunted there in years. But I love doughnuts. :chuckle:
-
I just came from my Dr visit about my ankle and he say's we're not going to do surgery. Now it's time for me to start rehabbing. Physical therapy will start next week. So it looks like the beginning of the season I may be able to get out and at least walk a little bit. Who Knows, maybe by September I'll be good to go! Doc seems to think I wont be 100% for 5 or 6 months though. I'll be happy with 50-60% for hunting season. Can anyone tell me where I might find a bear on a nice flat 100 yard trail? :dunno: Oh yea, will you drag it out for me too? :chuckle:
-
Look's like i'll hunt the coast. Thought about north cascades but got lost at cpost i was scared. Going to only call for bear's with my call's and my Foxpro when i get tired. Thought about inviting a couple people to camp. Going to scout in a couple day's. Already know were they hang out. Cant wait getting close. Rick
-
Honey hole has been geting to much pressure the past 4 or 5 years. Going to go to my back up spot. seen a couple in there last year.

yeah from guys like me. :chuckle:
-
Last year my honey hole was full of vinegar. I hope it's sweetened back up this year! :chuckle:
-
Its a long walk back to what would be my honey hole. If i could only find a way to cross the river and hike up from the bottom.
-
I think it's absolutely ridiculous to have much land gated so no one can use it D-Rock. It's 10 miles from the gate to where I saw a ton of sign in the spring. There aren't many people who can or would hike in 10 miles and pack out a bear.
-
I know h20hunter is going to be tiered by the time he's done giving you a piggy back ride all the way back there.
-

Bring extra Doughnuts so he can carb up!
-

-
thats awesome...........my twisted mind thinks....."ok....sneak behind the old fridge and you can go for a straight on chest shot......he'll tip right over and be DRT....
-
truly awsome photo. LMAO :chuckle:
-
That is an awesome pic  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Where did you got that picture ? you too were at Winthrop at the guys cabin PlateuNDN? :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Who's helping me pack my bear out opening day?
-
Do you have doughnuts?
-
Shoot another little collared one out of a tree again and you'll be just fine.
Maybe a poll on who gets the first? I do believe it was you last year.
-
Drock, that big ole bear was rippn a log up in the backyard yesterday, hey is it illegal to bait on ones own property? are the private timber companies allowed to do it?
-
Donuts and a couch will do the trick. If you leave it they will come. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Think he's watching the outdoor channel trying to figure out how to avoid us??? :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Was at Cabelas today. Got some under armer camo shirts sweet new Holster for the 44. I asked the if it was the manager that got busted baiting was a employee. Getting closer. Going out to the shop and make a bunch of elk and bear calls next few days. Rick
-
I was the first to post with a dead bear last year 2nd day of the season. No boo boo bears this year for me so it might take a day or two longer.
-
:bdid: That will only run your cost up. :bdid:
-
Just over a week to go.
-
Might go sit on the rock that first evening. Don't think they logged that far back.
-
Going to hunt bears for the first time this year and was wondering if you ware orange wile hunting or not.
-
Nope....I do keep an orange vest in my pack. That way, if I'm dealing with a downed critter I can add some color and try not to get shot if I'm dragging him out of the brush.
-
That was my plan to thanks.
-

-
I dont think so.

hi ho hi ho off to find bears I go :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: well starting thursday'ish :)
doggone it I wonder what I have to wear its bloody warm out there, not sure hunting in shorts is a good way to go...... and out of curiosity if my cupcake were to be showing could that be construed as baiting :dunno: :chuckle:
-
I know one critter that would be lured in.
-
:yeah: X's 2 I know they make 2 piece string bikinis in camo because I bought the wife a pair long time ago. That might work... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I hope somebody's skinning bear by this time tomorrow. When i said somebody i mostly meant me but good luck to the rest of you.
-

What's you goal on a bear this year? Going to be a little selective?
-
That's the plan as of right now. I think ive got enough under my belt now to where i can be a little more selective.
-
Yeah.....right. You are a triggy happy baby bear blasting killer!
And yes....I'm just a bit jealous. I feel good about this year.
-
I've never killed one either but I feel good about this year, an area i found is just being ripped to shreds by bear. all the fallen trees and stumps are torn to pieces!
i bought a bear cub distress sound for the call, will that only attract sows with cubs? what other sounds to try? its a johnny stewart preymaster.
-
I hope somebody's skinning bear by this time tomorrow. When i said somebody i mostly meant me but good luck to the rest of you.
I hope there is some pics up by this time tmro! :mgun: :cue: My season dont start till the 15th so I guess I'll just have to    over your pics till then

If i give one a dirt nap in the morning ill send pics to h20hunter via text and he'll have to post them for me.
-
Im prob heading to a spot that I had seen bear sighn a few years ago, Its on a northern slope so not sure how good it will be, maybe I will bring my calls and try them out, should I use cub distress? :dunno:
-
I haven't scouted my bear spot since spring time but i know where they will be.
-
Find the berries, find the bear.
-
Yep. That's the plan.
-
About 15 hours to go. I don't know if I'll make it out tomorrow, but I should be able to get out Thursday morn. I found a spot this spring that is only about a quarter mile walk. I don't know if my ankle is up to it, but I'm going to try. I think I'll walk in and blow on my fawn in distress call for a while. See what happens. Good luck everyone.
-
cub distress should work just fine plan on calling for awhile dont give up
good luck to all i am going for my 2nd bear of the season :IBCOOL:
-
Taking friday off to get out there 'early.' But I don't think I can resist a slow, quiet walk in the woods Wednesday night though.
-
