Great shape.  Eating some for dinner tonight. Fishing for us has been very good.  I heard boat numbers keep climbing so be safe out there.

The fish are just starting to get some color. Last week they were bright silver. The fish I caught on Monday had some red to them.  Still in good shape though.

SORRY Never finished this post  :dunno: :chuckle: We had a ball ...only caught a couple so I did not show them ...it was obviously the off day when we were there..We caught some and lost some ....yeah these fish do not even compare to the sockeye I caught earlier this month... not much fight in them at all but it was fun ..even though they are a little dark the meat was in good shape .....ALL and all I would go back and do it again ....what made me laugh was some people have been there for a month and went and bought freezers to put outside their motorhomes  :yike: :drool: AND MOST OF THEM WERE PLUMB FULL  :yike: ;)   And I did get some video but I do not think you want to see it  :chuckle: :chuckle:  Trying to video - run a boat and net a fish does not make good video NOT COUNTING NOT RUNNING INTO ANOTHER BOAT !!!! THEY WERE EVERYWHERE  :yeah:

Those guys always bring their freezers. They're pretty dialed in........hence the Brewster Salmon Derby crown last year. ;)

I had a great weekend wishing with my bro, fishing has definetly slowed, the fish are there the bite has just been off for a week or so I think the water temp has a big part to do with it.  The last fish we hooked yesterday in the heat of the day was about a 20lb chinook and after my bro played him out and brought him to the boat the dam leader broke just before going for him with the net.  All in all we got some fish and lost some and hooking into the king was a great way to end the trip!  Not to mention going out and taking some pics of some local bucks last night, it was a great weekend!  Get out there and hit the sockeye if you can, with the 200+ other boats :chuckle:

My parents are on the Russian right now, and have only caught 8 fish in 3 days.  Where abouts on the Kenai?

Adam Reid, Reid guide service said they're getting 6 limits on the Kenai in about an average of 4 hours... 900,000 fish rolling in the last two weeks...

So, isn't there a possession limit on Sockeye? I understand motorhomes have small freezers but, one freezer should be enough to take care of multiple guys possesion limit???

When we went up two years ago, we rented a motorhome but the freezer couldn't hold nearly the amount of fish we wanted to bring home.  We paid to have our fish frozen every other day and then picked them all up when we left for the airport.  Not sure about a possesion limit but we filleted and processed every day before we left the river.

The daily limit is 6 and the possession limit is 12.  Many people will take it to one of the fish processors in Soldotna or on the Peninsula and have their fish frozen.  Once they are filleted and frozen they are out of "Possession".  My friends up their just stuff all their freezers.  Its amazing the amount of fish caught in that river in a couple weeks.

Posession limit for salmon in WA;

SALMON
Possession limit - 2 daily limits in fresh form. An additional 40 pounds of SALMON may be possessed in frozen or processed form.

This is from the fishing regs available on the WDFW web site.

I went over this last weekend and bonked a few. They are hard to stick a hook in. We had countless takedowns and by the time you jerk the rod off the rigger they were gone. Had some hit the deep six also and they were gone by the time you reeled down on them. It was nice being in the sun and heat for a change. I love it over there. :tup:

Sounds like you kinda had the same issues ... but it was fun and next year I will be all over it ...esspecially for those kings ...Plus I met some locals who were shooting some CARP at night with their bows and I know for a fact I will be hookin up with them next year when I am over there...So it will be kinda like this  :dunno: :chuckle:  Fish all day and shoot all night  :yeah: :chuckle:

I'm with on that, I will be all over it next year also. I have never shot carp but I'll bet it's a blast. I saw a few dead ones floating around over there. I figured they had been stuck with an arrow! I know some great spots for bow fishing carp over at Potholes Reservoir. Maybe some day I'll buy a bow and try it!
