Where are the comments about this unit this year?   Did no one on here draw that tag?

What other tag did he draw? He should use the Watershed tag! I am surprised just as much as you are cook. I haven't seen much talk about it.

 :yeah:

Maybe the majority didn't realize what it looks like and the restrictions, saw it from the top, and said forget that!!   :chuckle:

It amazes me how every year there are a few that never even step foot into a unit they applied for.

I drew it.  I've contacted a few members of the forum and have gotten a lot of help.  Hoping to make my first trip to the glassing points around the edges in a few weeks.  I'm serious about this tag and plan to scout and hunt it very hard.  If anybody has any tips or insight pm me and I'll call you.

I have helped two friends in there in the last four years and will be going in with another buddy this year... always a bridesmaid but never a bride!  :chuckle: :chuckle:  One of these days I'll get to hunt in there.

A few access points to get into the unit.  They closed the area where we used a couple years ago. Best advise is to drive up and look for access from Table Rock (thanks for correcting my phone toyman. Poor guy would be lost with my directions. LOL I see you are from the Tri-Cities, she has seen the shed. It is some steep country that you better be ready to tackle.

Its Table Rock, it is a  fire look out about 30 miles or so outside of Dayton. If the pics work here are 3 from Table Rock, they are about 5 days old.

So from the edge, that would be looking straight down, a little up and then across the valley

Yep---- it's very steep and tough country.  be prepared for crap weather (it's been a snowshoe hunt for me 2x) and be prepared for some uphill walking.  I hope your mother in law is pretty tough, mine wouldn't make it! :o

Opps stupid auto correct. Yeah Table Rock. Or even come from the Oregon side. Just follow Skyline Road I believe it will take you all the way around into Oregon.

Very good friend of mine has a younger brother who drew the tag two years ago.
He got a very big 6x6.  After they got it out of the hole, he told his brother he was
never going down in there again.  Well guess what?  My friend drew the tag this
year.

Yea i did draw a Watershed tag for quality bull and i all so hold a branch bull tag for Rimrock. Im going to start off hunting my Rimrock tag since four other guy from my hunting party all so drew Rimrock and you all so get to start five days earlyer. If i cant get the job done up there by Monday after the opener im going to head up to the watershed and see if i cant seal the deal.

I'm staffing Table Rock LO this summer. I've met a few hunters who drew the watershed tag and have come out on weekends to do some glassing into the area. There are some good spots along the Skyline road and near the lookout to set up a scope. Best to be there at sunrise and just before sunset if you want to see bulls. I've seen a few. I don't know about access from the west side. This would be a good hunt to have some mules. I'll be here thru September. Stop at the lookout and say hello if you are in the area for some scouting.

my dad pulled a dayton tag and ran into some guys who were hoping for a watershed tag (wa side). I have heard guys talking about the unit and the rules. There was a take off point from Dayton into the watershed and outside of the rules, I thought that tag sounded unreal

This may have been the case most years but not last year.  I was in there and there were lots of guys hunting it hard every day all the way to the end.  In 07 we were by ourselves basically by the 3rd day,  not the case last year.  Drew some real hunters...

ME ME ME This guy is hunting it!!! I'm hunting this area with a friend. I'm doing all the research I can on the area, but I'm a Marine stationed out of state, but beings it's closed off outside of the season, wouldn't get too much scouting anyways!! Definitely looking for any insight to points of entry, areas to camp around it and places to hunt! Feel free me message or email me any tips you might have! Looking forward to capitalizing such a unique area!

There is no camping in the watershed unit. You should have recived a packet in the mail with a map and all the rules and restrictions. The best way i have found to come in to the watershed is fro the wenaha unit. Thats where a buddy of mine will be hunting for his branch bull. Ive done a little bit of scouting up there looks pretty tuff. It should be a intresting hunt this year.

There are places to camp along FS road 64 between FS 46 and the state line. Not a good road for trailers due to ruts and some deep water bars, very few turnouts if you meet other traffic. I've seen several hunters glassing from points along FS 64 and the lookout. I've seen 4 good bulls below the lookout but no telling if they will still be hanging out in the same area when the season opens. The more "remote" scouting (glassing from the ridge tops) you do before the season the better chance you'll have of locating a good bull, IMHO.

so my other question is how hard does one really get after it in the shed when u cant go in with a full pack and get in deep? U can only walk so far in the dark and hunt all day and have to walk out and be back to the truck an dup and it again.

When I was there it was it was spot and stock. I bedded a couple bulls and was going to go to that same spot in the morning but on my way in we rode passed my elk.

This is why most guys quit after just a couple days, it's a very rugged and physical hunt. Your best bet is to camp off the trail up higher and start from there, and take a good strong buddy with you for packing. You can have 1 guy with you during the hunt and if you kill something you can take 4 guys (total) to retrieve the animal.
