blueberry's aren't ripe yet so what are the bears up high feeding on this time of year?

Salmon Berries - fish - grubs and whatever else they can find ....if I was hunting in August I would be looking for Salmon berry patches ...along creeks where they can get water ... :twocents:

All the clearcuts have thoese little ground blackberries and they're getting ripe now, I'm going to be looking there!

:chuckle: :chuckle: probably whatever they can get in their mouth to be honest..... little blackberries, oregon grapes, bugs, grubs, roots, critters....

Huckleberries :tup: I have found a nice big patch of them, and they were tasty :drool:

been doing ALOT of scouting see several bears every trip Isaw two yesterday one being a blonde every bear I have seen have been high( elevation) and in the huckle berries

lots of people dont know or dont believe this black bears will kill and eat all the fawns they can catch also high clear cuts were u can watch and see good they love to tear open rotten stumps for bugs and rock slides with snow brush they flip over rocks for bugs and rodents

This is what I normally see for sign right when season starts. They love the ants. Unfortunately all the sign I find is about a week old when I find it. :chuckle:

that was a close one you almost laid your gun down in bear poop.

:yeah: the area that ive scouted out this summer has all of a sudden become over run with torn up logs and stumps! thinkin of just setting up in the area and hitting fawn or bear cub in distress on the call :tup:

Don't forget acorns.
