Do you guys think it would be a good idea to try to get the wdfw to allow a special baiting season via special permit? I was thinking, they could draw a certain amount of tags say one site, possibly 2 and be trquired to tag our bait with.a number they assign you. What is everyones thoughts? What would it take to bring this to the wdfw?

I've always thought that would be a good idea, it would be easy for them to keep track of the guys with the permits. On a side note, speaking of baiting. I can't wait to see the pic's of guys with there opening day bear kills....wonder how many of those were on baits. Anyway, I agree, and with the revenue you would think they will like the idea. Good luck, I hope they listen.

Well it was an initiative that made it illeagle to hound hunt and bait for bears so my guess it would take an initiative to make it illeagle

i agree it would be a great idea, i loved huntn bear every year when we could bait, i really liked just watchn them, the cubs could make you bust out laughing and mama bear would take them and haul but and sometimes the cubs would come up your tree or jump in the blind with ya :chuckle: if you do get an initiative started and need help getn signatures i will gladly lend you my time, it would be a win win, wdfw gets money we get to bait even if its by permit only, and some reports that i have heard is bear numbers are up state wide, when they took hounds and baiting away it took the only real methods of keeping the numbers in check..... the only thing i fear is that it will take a politician getn attacked by a bear before we see a change, but i hope not.like i said i am willing to work to get whatever we need just point me in the right direction

They should give out permits for baiting. Natives can bait whenever they want, and theres no shortage of bears. At least give us the opportunity to draw a bait station permit and have people register their station with the WDFW. On the other hand, theres too many loops to jump through and how could the WDFW stop other people from hunting a station without being there 24/7. I dont think they'll ever give out baiting permits before re-opening baiting to the general public. But its worth a try!

I believe this is correct with the exception of damage hunts where hounds and/or baits can be used under the supervision of the DFW.

Agree, its a good idea so means it will never happen

We do not need more drawings :dunno: all these permits has my hair falling out :chuckle: :chuckle: :yeah:

It already happened no one cared after the bear was dead

Yes, there is a way. Get it on the ballot and convince all of the lefties from CA who now live in the I-5 corridor to change their minds about what they think is right. I believe this is possible, especially if the temperature goes below 32 in Hell. IMHO, we will never see a season or tag for baiting or hounding in this state again unless the liberals' children start getting eaten by the dozen.

I think our focus needs to be on preserving what we have, not what we had............... :twocents:

Absolutely agree.

Since the spring hunt is for damage control, I think all spring tag holders should be allowed to bait. :twocents:

Again, like Buckfvr said, look to preserving the rights we have going down the road. You're not ever going to see baiting come back as a general season, ever. Not going to happen. End of story.

i wouldnt say never pianno, when the numbers get to high the game department will come up with a baiting permit all on their own :twocents:

the timber companys get tons of depredation tags the hunters dont even get paid for fuel and have to turn every ouince of the bear and then the game dept auctions off the hides and skulls who knows were the money goes seattle? they just wont allow baiting or hound hunting again its more or less the democratic state we live in its only gonna get worse so get use to it

Baiting is currently allowed by permit through the Master Hunter program.
Your ideas are good and have submitted the same to WDFW 3 times over the last 6 years. My ideas included GPS locations of two sites, requirements to take samples for F&W, and more.
It may happen but I doubt it.
