Open Reed Production Style Calls For Sale!
These calls are each hand made, by Me, in a production line style. Built for practical performance.
Hand turned and belled schedule 40 PVC bodies, hand primed and painted camoflage.
They're seated with the molded, hand tuned, RainShadow L-O-U-D Toneboards. Super control with absolutely ear splitting capabilities.

2 sizes, distress units started with a 2" piece of stock, and the mini-howler units started with a 3" piece before the belling and tapering the necks.
The mini-howlers have a stiffer howling reed and vocalize like the dickens, but also do excellent distress. The distress units have a thinner raspy reed, but still do excellent pup and female coyote howls.

Both models $12 each, plus actual estimated first class shipping. (Limited Quantity available. The top photo is the whole batch except for the 2 on my lanyard!!)
I'm pretty proud of these.
I really like this toneboard, but it might not get another run. We'll see. It's how I want it, which makes it really hard for Loren to mold! But I got these, and man to they scream!
And I spent a long time figuring out how to make a quick and easy belled body from a lightweight and durable material. Finally, I'm at least on the right road!
Thanks guys!

Nice work Steve! I am sure they will go quick over at Predator Masters!
Now do I take on of these or have a custon made........... or both?
-
Technically, these are custom made! They're each hand made calls. They just happen to be hand made all the same way!
Both! Of course!
-
I am sure I will! You custom turned calls are beautiful. My wife cannot understand why I need more calls............
I will send you a PM as soon as I can get my "allowance" from the boss. :'(

Not stirring the pot..... honest question..... why not cast the entire call instead of putting all that work into PVC turning, and shaping it on a lathe??? :dunno:
-
The boards need to be suitable to any application. For one. So they're a stand alone. And second, the boards were hard enough to get molded, they're not what you'd call, straightforward. If I'd have designed them with a bell Loren would have hunted me down and beat me with a stick!
The belling of pipe was a personal challenge. Whether I used these boards for it or not. I figured it out.

Killbilly got me a couple of these calls and today we almost had a couple of kill shots for ya. We took our rifles out on a mushroom excursion but on the way we stopped to take some pics of the sunrise and see if we could get some yotes to answer us. Using a locator siren we heard some across the valley. We devised a plan and headed out.
We got set up and I turned the Scorpion on real low with a baby cottontail sound then let out some gawd awful distress with my new Rainshadow open reed. Within seconds I saw what I though was a bobcat coming from over 300 yards so I get out my camera and turn it on. Then I see another one following it down the old logging trail. I raise my rifle and look through the scope to see a couple of young yotes. There were at least two and maybe three that came from the bottom of the canyon but stopped just under 300 yards away. I took a few shots and hit one but after hiking my butt down there I could not find hide nor hair of it.
Anyway, the call sounds great and I love the small tone board.

Thanks Willie! Good job! That board has some volume, eh?!?

Thanks Rick! How'd the show go? Wish I could'a gone. Just to play, I'm not set up to sell, probably a couple years before I'm at that level.
-
the show went great. no ecaller war's. very cool foxpro and minaska shook hand's. i told Ragn Cajun they should let them come back. it sounded positive.the production call's are a tough sell. every one so into the custom's. was very expensive there. next year the expo will be in i think in akron ohio. they dont think there are enough predator hunter's on the west coast. so yes was a great time. So we went out again last night with the same call and basically the same setup. I called in the survivor...and missed at just under 200 yards. :yike:
