Not much story here, we just hiked out a skid road that i have been hunting for years. We sat and waited until it got to that magic hour and then worked are way back to the truck. I happend to stop at a little grassy clear cut and I told him this looks awsome and no more after I said that she walked out 80 yards broaside and the rest is history. 1 shot with a lot of damage that bullet did some crazy stuff on this bear. 270 wsm x-bolt, I am not sure what load he was shooting but it hit high in the shoulder and destroyed everything below that. I beleve she will go around 5-5.5 feet and around 140-160 pounds, not the biggest but for his 1st bear he is stoked! Taking to rolly in malaga to get the rug done, he has done all my rugs so I think it will buff out.
She was living off of stumps tearing em apart and getting grubs and bugs I guess, cause it was tore up in there. We dragged to the skid road and deboned and skinned it out and then it was a 1/2 hike to the truck, 61 degrees at 4500 feet at 9:30 pm plenty cool enough to have a victory beer when we got back to the truck!
