Title: Nickel Plating and/or other refinishing near Olympia?
Post by: marlin on August 04, 2012, 01:29:08 PM: I picked up an Old Model Single Six that im thinking about having nickel plated.. It has some sprayed on finish on it already so it can only get better. I thought about selling it but now I'm thinking I want to keep it and possibly have it nickel plated and get some nice grips for it. Does anyone know somewhere local I can have this done? Or if you have had a gun nickel plated before maybe recommend a good place.
I got a pretty good price on this, and actually posted it up for sale locally and got some interest quickly so I know I could sell it for more than I was asking, but I like it! According to ruger.com it was manufactured in 1957 and it has a really nice sharp bore for that age. I wish someone hadnt messed with the finish. Even in its current condition its a cool gun and fun to shoot. I can only imagine if it were nickel plated, or had fresh bluing. Maybe I can talk my Fiance into having it done for me for Christmas or something!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Post by: Bofire on August 06, 2012, 07:14:43 PM: Nickle plating is thick, you would likely have to polish the metal way down for clearance. bad idea. just get it polished and blued.
