Title: Nickel Plating and/or other refinishing near Olympia?
Post by: marlin on August 04, 2012, 01:29:08 PM
I picked up an Old Model Single Six that im thinking about having nickel plated.. It has some sprayed on finish on it already so it can only get better. I thought about selling it but now I'm thinking I want to keep it and possibly have it nickel plated and get some nice grips for it. Does anyone know somewhere local I can have this done? Or if you have had a gun nickel plated before maybe recommend a good place.
I got a pretty good price on this, and actually posted it up for sale locally and got some interest quickly so I know I could sell it for more than I was asking, but I like it! According to ruger.com it was manufactured in 1957 and it has a really nice sharp bore for that age. I wish someone hadnt messed with the finish. Even in its current condition its a cool gun and fun to shoot. I can only imagine if it were nickel plated, or had fresh bluing. Maybe I can talk my Fiance into having it done for me for Christmas or something!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Nickle plating is thick, you would likely have to polish the metal way down for clearance. bad idea. just get it polished and blued.
