Damn near did. I only weighed about 135 lbs and he field dressed over 200 lbs. The story is on here somewhere, but basically after he was down he nearly kicked my brother and then came at me, head down and hooves up. I shot him in the neck from the hip with a 30.30 as he came over a downed tree only a short barrels length away.

He was bigger (and had an extra point) the year before. But he still couldn't get his rack around a tree any bigger than your wrist.

BLRman, that is a monster blacktail and it really does deserve a new cape. :yike: I think I have seen pics of that buck before??I had it at the yakima sportsmans show a while back and then I took it down the following year to Portland because a b&c scorer (lost his card and can't remember his name) down there was doing a book on blacktails and wanted to have it rescored. He called me a couple years ago when b&c made a nontypical classification for blacktails and he wanted to officially score it as a nontypical because it would have been the new world record. My grandfather still has it so I can't do much with it and he doesn't want to recape it for some reason. Not too bad looking for a 87yr old mount though! My grandpa said when they down size to a smaller house in a few years then I can have it. You can bet you will be getting a call from me when that happens!

Yea they don't call them timber ghosts for nothing. Put in for that Green River tag several years back when it was better.3 years ago a youth hunter took a 140 or 150 class buck and the same year the muck's took a 150 class deer, I wonder if it's getting better in there since the mucks are somewhat in control of what they harvest in the shed now. I put in for it every year, nothing like a big blackie.

Thanks, I saw that shirt in pittsburg when we were there and I just had to get it.
