Title: Building a kennel
Post by: rosscrazyelk on August 08, 2012, 09:01:23 PM: So I have been throwing around the thought of building a kennel for my truck instead of using the kennels I have. The question I have is how much room do dogs really need?
I have two dogs on the extreme opposites of size. One Boykin Spaniel and Weim. I do alot of camping and space always seems to be a issue. I was planning on building a kennel the exact height of the truck bed and wide enough to hit the wheel well. It would be 5'3x2'x 20" do you think that is to small for the weim?

This is what I've got on my truck. I altered mine to give my dogs a little more room (enough room I can put them both in 1 side of the thing comfortably) and after shipping it only ran me 14 hundred.

Post by: Stilly bay on August 12, 2012, 11:29:09 AM: make the kennels shorter so the dog can't stand while you are driving. if they are laying down its a lot harder for them to get thrown around if you get in an accident or have to outrun the gamey on some back road.
