Sorry for the bad picture quality (dirty window). Weathergirl snapped this photo yesterday. Seems pretty early? Anyone else seeing bone yet?
-
I saw a big bull on Friday that had shed his velvet. Seems early for deer though. :dunno: there are always wierdos :chuckle:.
-
Saw a little whitetail buck in the alfalfa field that had bloody horns yesterday... A little early but it is the end of august!
-
About 3/4 of the bulls I have on camera are now velvet free, but all the deer still have it. :twocents:
-
The Mulies I have on my property on the East side are all still in velvet. I did watch a bull locally last weekend hard at work removing the stuff.
-
All still full velvet here.
-
Nice shot Loki... Bulls are out of velvet around my house too now ... I try and get some pictures tonight !!

All the deer I have been seeing are still in velvet. I usually don't see them lose it until end of September. Seems like they like to run around with it starting to fall off and hanging all over the place during the high hunt. Maybe that deer in the photo is an overachiever.

4 bucks this week all still in full velvet in my neck of the woods
-
I'm thinking any day now for the deer here to start. Wouldn't be surprised if I have a pic on tcam right now. Damn near a month ago, I had a freshly torn up tree near a cam. Looks totally deer to me, but may have been an early elk/moose. This past month of extreme heat has sped up the slow start to the year imo.

Saw a forkie today in velvet and my buddy sent me a pic of a 3pt in ocean shores with bone
-
i usually see a whitey every year by August 15 out of velvet..I have some i suspect to be out soon!
-
That little guy looks so young! He probably just doesn't understand how the whole velvet shedding thing works just yet
-
He does look young, he won't be on our hit list this year. Hopefully noone else will dump him, he has potential for out here with those eyeguards though.
-
Saw a nice big bull by packwood this last weekend that had no velvet.

We used to have friends that lived on Blakely island and it seemed things were always 2-3 weeks ahead of the mainland out there.
Sure miss being out there and watch the water go by sipping suds.
