Well decided to leave the Elk alone for awhile and see if I can catch my 1st fall king ...It went O.K other than one jerking the pole out of my hand :yike: So anyway I hooked into one nice one and as I set the hook it peeled out on me and I had the pole lightly in my hand and it literally took the pole out of my hand ...Luckily there was guys below me who retieved my dang pole and bought it back to me ...After all the laughing they hand me the pole with the fish still on it ... Crazy ...Just another Bazzare day in the field :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-

-
YA THINK D-Rock :o ;) Lets see how smart we are today .... :chuckle: :dunno:Lets say you shoot a cougar or a bear and lay it in your truck for around 3 or 4 days frozen ...Does it keep its same body weight or does it loose around 20% of its body fluids ?? OFF TOPIC BUT on the same subject :chuckle: :chuckle: :hello: Then I will go on to finish my opinion on how stupid some people are including the law ! :police:

I ran into my favorite WARDEN :yike:

Yes they are ... so now you have to adjust to their philosophy which I always do :dunno: :chuckle: They make all these stupid rules and if you do not find a way to get around it you get sheet .... :chuckle: :chuckle:its all techinque like anything !
-
Nice hook mark in the side of the top one  must have been the guy before you :dunno:
How do you get the muddy taste out of those kings? I've tried everything from pickling to smoking nothing seems to hide the distinct flavor of the samish bay, lol.

Those stupid rules are mainly in place to help keep the masses at bay but it's not working :chuckle: It's ridiculous what has happened to that river the last few years. I try to keep a good memory of what that fishery was like 20 yrs ago by not participating anymore
-
Hahaha I do not know what your lookin at but I do use eggs ...BLOOD - MAybe a seal bite -maybe a net mark :dunno: As far as the fishery It has always been the way it is for as long as I have been going out there but it has definately gotten worse thanks to no one having places to go :bash: :bash: and if you think you can SNAG ONE USING A BOBBER GOOD LUCK TO YA .... Your more than welcome to join me ...Like ya said I am sure most of the fish in there have been hooked a few times and its a matter of who lands them ....Sounds like the warden who popped up behind me last week ... Maybe they are hiring :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Just saying ...thats all ! :fishin:

[/quote] AS far as the mud issue you first jerk out the gills while it is still kickin ...thats gets all the blood out :dunno:Second You only fish when they first come in and have sea lice on them and third you take the skin off of them if you are going to eat them ...Now they are fit to eat :dunno: thats how I do it ! :chuckle:
-
Bowhunter good job!!!!! Sorry your day was almost ruined by the warden..
Seth :hello:
-
Good job buddy!

Well shoot if thats the case I would zip over to the nearest lotto dealer and buy a ticket! :P
-
Just givin ya sheet BH45! Nice fish  But seriously I've caught em dime bright with sea lice, bled em, threw them on ice etc. and they still had a muddy flavor. Spoiled I guess from Alaska and Fraser kings :dunno:
I do gotta say tho never could figure why so many rules on a meat fishery. Fishers should be able to get their two fish(how ever?) leave and make room for the next person.
One question? did your bobber go down when they hit your worm? :chuckle:
-
No big deal ...You know I am a little touchy :chuckle: :chuckle: I do not care as long as I have something tugging on the end of the line ...they fight like hell and to witness all the MADNESS MAKES ME LAUGH and I am sure today will be crazier than yesterday ...but I just have to go :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: plus I only go the 1st week when they are 1 st coming in and then I go know where near the place ...
-
Hey, BH45 are they still charging people to access the dike? I haven't been down there to check.
-
Last I heard they got shut down ...which they should ..that was BS ...but I do not know if you can access from there or not ! I will try and find out . It has already become a freakin zoo :bash: :yike: I actually got peesed today and left :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Yah I remember it getting pretty chaotic in there. I haven't fished it for for a few years now. We used to access it just up from the barn, get in there real early and hold your ground. Nice thing was most of the time it would be the same 10 guys in line that new what they were doing and then you just have to worry about the idiots above and bellow you.
-
IF YOUR HEADED TO THE SAMISH MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BOBBER AND THROW BACK ALL FOWLED FISH ,,,,, :yike: :hello: :bdid: YEP THEY WHERE OUT IN FORCE TODAY :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: NO I did not get ticketed but they tried and even read me my rights :o after going round and round for an hour over how they want us to use a bobber I was let alone but 5 others not so lucky ...Think they took 2 pools and a couple fish and gave tickets .. :bash: :bash: anyway the bobber has to be tied to the line and can not slide up and down the string ....I had a corky with a tooth pick in it so I could adjust the depth but they still insisted my bait was not suspended off the bottom :dunno: :o :yike: Whatever ....no matter what you do it still is not right  even took a guys fly rod and his fish because one was fowled hook ....A FLY FISHERMEN :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: I LOVE BEING OUTDOORS :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :yike:
-
Thanks for the inetel!!! :chuckle: I will be sure not to fish there. Id go to fish jail for sure. :chuckle:
-
This is whay I don't even bother any more river fishing for salmon.... Can't even hook a fish without doing it wrong.... My buddy keeps calling me wanting to go to the Skok.... Not a chance..... :chuckle:
-
believe me I GOT MY :twocents: Across .... can let them run over you when you know your right ..... and to take a guys pool is BS ...Just over a frickin fish ....its a meat fishery and they are all going to die anyway .... My point was a CORKY IS A FLOAT and they still were trying to tell me thats not right :dunno: I always catch them on eggs but when you have 100 people in the water walking around and spooking all the fish its hard to get them to bite and some do get fowled hooked ....So until I am seen or caught with a fowled fish I think they best go bark up another tree :dunno: :yeah:
-
*Snip*
That is the Samish for ya! Those Gamies up there are in my experience ALL the ones that give the rest of them in this state a bad name. I've been hassled up there nearly every single time over some imagined infraction and have yet to receive my first citation. :twocents:
I've even had them repeatedly grill me over my fishing day and threaten to search my car while at the gas station up there!
-
The first pic showed a corkey too. :dunno: Then you said you cant snag on a bobber. But a corkey isnt a bobber. not even close. I thought you ment eggs. But a hook with yarn and a corkey is snagging gear for sure. Yes even if the corkeys big. but nice fish and no i dont work for WDFW. just stating what i see. If you dont keep the fowl hooked ones then the gammies have no case i aggree.

I disagree with the above statement.
-
A corky or a cheater may not be a "float/bobber" to some people.....but I fish a small river where most people fishing it use large corkies or cheaters for floats for their jigs or very small baits......and technically a corky is a drift "bobber"..... :dunno: I think the gamies should spread out and go after people doing worse thing than not using what THEY think is a BOBBER! Next thing you know they will be telling us what brand of gear and line weights we are allowed to use! As BH45 said...it is a meat fishery, the fish are there to be caught, we are paying for that....I in no way condone snagging but this is going a little too far in my book.... :twocents:
-
Snagging , jigging is to me when you are continuously jerking the pole ....I have a corking suspended above a bait of eggs ... and when the tide is low there is not much current so your eggs lay on the bottom of the river and your bobber is not drifting much ....Whatever floats their boat .... I have relatives coming out just to go fishing and the last thing I need is dealing with them ...Believe me the other thought I was nutz going off but someone needs to do it , especially when I seem to deal with it all the time :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
ok i never knew the egg corkey techniqe. aggreed bs i get hasseled just as much if not more for worse than that. like u said there all gonna die anyway.
-
A bobber to me is anything that floats ... :twocents: plus the eggs float off the bottom to when you have the water running BUT when the tide goes to low the water is barely moving so they lay on the bottom and your bobber is not moving either :dunno: They are so wacked in the head I can not stand it much more :dunno: :o :yike:
-
Eggs are just sitting on the bottom? Never heard of a king rooting around on the bottom of a river scooping up balls of eggs.... While fishing eggs, your eggs must be suspended somewhat in the water column and not just sitting in the mud...
I don't think requiring people to use floats on the samish is going to do anything about the business as usual on that river... Guys will still lay their jigs/offerings on the bottom and wait for a king to floss himself or jerk when one fins by...
Not saying that's what you were doing, but just my couple cents.

:chuckle: :chuckle: Well today was much different ...yeah the wardens are on patrol and JB still is fishing ... :chuckle: So after all the sheet thats been going on out there I decided to put on a legit bobber and some fresh eggs .. and even made sure they were suspended off the bottom and the results still are the same for me :yike: :yike: :yike: Wardens just say hello now and walk on :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: I show ya the results as soon as my son gets home from football practice :hello:
-
Today I tried something totally off the wall ...I used sandshrimp and before it was said and done I had people running to the store for sandshrimp ...maybe the dept should give me a reward for helping people doing things legally :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: When the tide is high you can definately drift sandshrimp with a bobber and catch the sheet out of them ....The tickets have not slowed the fishing down any and they are thick ...The silvers are in now so I will not be doing much Samish fishing until my brother shows up from back east ....he is dieing to catch some fish .....$ 35 FOR A 3 DAY PASS FOR NON RESIDENT So I hope he gets his money worth !! I have some big fish to show ya from the last 2 days ...when I get time I post them ...I have them in my frig. and it will take me 1/2 day tomorrow to put them all in seller bags and start smoking a few ! I still have not bought a hunting license yet :yike: Not really that excited about filling a deer tag until November when those BiG BLACKTAIL are rutting ...May go elk hunting for a few days but thats not guaranteed yet either :dunno: :yike:
-
Don't get too effective with it JB! They might put a bait restriction on her next year :chuckle:
Lets see a couple pics of them mud sucking kings :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: YEAH THEY LOOK REAL MUDDY TO ME :chuckle: :chuckle: Just to be clear I kept 2 from yesterday in my frig.. until I have enought for a decent picture :dunno: 2 day limit ...YOU HEAR ME 2 DAY LIMIT ... :chuckle: No the wardens do not bug me no more :bdid: They know it will be an all day affair 8)
-
yeah I would say they look pretty dark and ugly 8) :chuckle: :chuckle: I love my few every morning !
-
Now your talkin! :chuckle: Now go get them slivers
-
Nice work. Those are some great looking kings!!
-
My last UP DATE .... THINK I NEED MORE SALMON :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Got a lot of good meals to look foward to there.
-
I think you have me beat. I caught a king yesterday in MA 8-2. All 8 inches of him :chuckle: The jig I was using was about 3.5 inches. At that rate, a 30 inch king would bite a 13 inch jig :yike: :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
HERE I WILL KEEP THIS LIVE :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: My brother is coming from Pa So this is what he is in for :chuckle: :chuckle: That bobber is working damn good for me after all ...the last 8 fish I caught have been on eggs and ALL 8 WERE HENS ...SWEEEEEEEEET ... People are walking up on me and saying they do not bite eggs ...WRONG ANSWER ...I have always caught them on eggs and it just takes patients waiting for the right fish to come by .. and that is usually the hens ...the love those sugar cured eggs ... :dunno:
-
Just barely getting colored up.....going to be some fine eating and smoking you have there.
-
actually they were crome bright but I had them laying on the bank for awhile ...sea lice all over them !
-
