Title: 3 vs 4 fletch
Post by: Instinct on September 01, 2012, 08:19:38 PM
Runnin blazer vanes and was expierenceing w/ 4 vanes noticed better arrow flight even with muzzy 3 blades at 20 yards. Was wondering if anyone else has expieremented with 4 fletches and your results.

My broadheads and field points fly the same and more true with four vs three. Different bows and setups may yield different results.  :twocents:

Thanks for the reply. I noticed the same results too. Im shooting the same set up as last year (easton st excel, muzzy 100gr 3 blade, at 60lb) with the exception of useing 4 fletch and they flew better than the 3 vanes.minimal tuneing required and out to 40yards fp and bh was hitting same spot, never had that before. At 60 was hitting money even with a slight breeze.

4 fletch will dial you in better for sure.  The only real downside is that it will slow your arrow slightly due to more resistance.  The upsides far outweigh the downsides .   :twocents:
Used to be a bit difficult to find places to do four fletch.  Does not seem to be the case now though.

I'm shooting 4 vane blazers and getting very tight groups at all distances.

I'd like to see a comparison between a straight fletch 4 compared to a helical 3.  I use a small diameter carbon arrow, and the Bitz jig would not allow me to put 4 blazer helicals (in fact it didn't do that well with 3 helicals...ended up looking more like a slight offset).  Get better helical fletch from either Bohning, or Arizona but only have the option of 3 helical fletchings.  The real question would be would I get better flight from a 4 vane straight (or slight offset) or from a 3 vane 3 degree helix.

4 fletch all the way for me. There is a big gain when shooting 4 fletch with those big fat heads!

I'm shooting 4 fletch full helical blazers  through a WB .... my broadheads (slick tricks) shoot just like my field points.

Good another convert!!! Another think you will love is not having to worrry about cock vane up or out. Just snap it on and let it rip. A lot of the times after my first shot. When I am putting another arrow on I don't even look down. That way I can keep my eyes on the animal.

Shot with four blazers for a few years but switched back to three  4" vanes because I was getting flight.
