Title: Baker Lake Bear hunting Warning
Post by: Bearhunter on August 21, 2008, 04:28:17 PM: Hey just to give you all a heads up for anybody thats going to be hunting up around Baker lake this weekend. We were parked at the gate before Grandy lake campground kinda off the road out of site, came back from hunting, and low and behold the drivers side window was broke out. They stole my buddys garage door operner his registration 2 check books, keys, and my motorcycle helmet that I needed to use to ride home since I met him there. Damn crack heads anyways. Dont leave anything valuable in your care the will find it and take any personalized documents out before you leave the house, or take your registration with you in your pack. It sucks what sucitity is turning into.

After my truck was broken into and had the same kind of stuff stolen, I put a hold on my bank accounts and transferred balances into new accounts. The bank was very nice and I even think they handled the collection agent calls and kept me in good standing with my credit, but I would still get calls more than a year later to try and get me to pay for what those low-lifes did. It was a major pain in the butt!! Good luck, I hope you can get those *censored*s!

What I heard was that they meth addicts also like to cruise large campgrounds and steel the catalytic converters to get platinum. Not sure how bad of a problem that is but that's just what I heard. Since I am going up that direction next week I will make sure to have all my stuff with me.

I agree - they might hit the house next. Who knows?

Had to cancel all our accounts and transfer crap around. It has been a tough week dealing with this and insurance! Now looking for a little personal insurance to carry!

He bought a new one and about three days later he went out and there sat a new battery with a note on it telling him a sob story and how sorry they were. In the letter on the battery were two tickets to the seahawks game to make up for his trouble. You guessed it when he came home from the game someone had taken everything in his house.

Post by: jackelope on August 21, 2008, 08:05:31 PM: it's getting to be the same *censored* everywhere. up on the sky by the reiter ponds area, the same problems. i imagine all those type areas are the same. the cedar river fishermen have issues with meth scumbags too. my buddy was fishing the cedar last year and came back to his new duramax to find a bullet hole in the driver's door.
my truck and driftboat trailer got stolen a couple years ago while me and fanatic were floating the yakima river in the canyon. i have a hard time believing my truck and belongings will be safe anywhere i leave it since then. i never saw my truck again....sorry it happened to you too...

You bet your ass Im packing my Glock when we go on Saturday just never know whats going to happen out there. My rig got broke into a couple years ago while parked at the Jordan creek gate in Marblemount. Thats why I just bought a KTM enduro, dont have to leave the rig behind when I wanna go hunt up in the hills somewhere, just stash the bike. Probably end up getting it stolen. If we park the truck again we will put the trail cam out for good measure, I also told my buddy to get it up in his driveway, incase the decide to come case his house, f-ing rat *censored*s.

My not so evil side just wants to catch them in the act, show me your hands, take off your shoes, pants, shirt, start walking them out ahead of your heated car to local authorities.

I spend a lot of time up there...
I've been broken into twice (both times in front of the housem though) and make sure I leave absolutely NOTHING inside my rigs when I leave them...lock it up tight (including glove box) and hope for the best--not that it does much good.

I've heard a lot of bad from along the Skagit, and also along Pilchuck creek...lots of catalytic converters nabbed and smash-n-grabs. Heck, a couple years ago they caught some meth-heads COOKING up a batch under the conway bridge/put-in. They're everywhere--and not too bright.

More than once the thought has crossed my mind of just parking in an area like this, camo'ing up, and sitting in the brush with a shotty just to rack the slide and scare 'em off in the act.....in hopes it might actually deter them in the future. Again, probably useless though.

Tell your buddy to change the codes on the garage door opener, or at least unplug it and put a bar in the tracks for a while. Have him let the neighbors know to be on the lookout for strange activity as well--you'd be suprised how oblivious and *dumb* neighbors can be at times.

I totally agree with that. Abviously the penalty is not stiff enough because the BS keeps happening.
