Heading out this morning to hunt the slopes of Mt.Adams tomorrow. Oh yeah!

This time next week I hope to be hiking the first leg of my 8 mile hike! I've got a date with a nice alpine meadow at 6800' (saw a moose and a really nice buck while scouting)
Deer or no deer this is going to be a very memorable hunt with my Brother-in-law! Can't wait to see your post this year Hirshey...especially if you bag 'forklift'!!
-
Good luck and be safe on your hunts! Can't wait to see the pics

REI right by my office. I'll be heading there right after work. I shall be testing two new (lighter) items on my hunt. (I'd rather have tested before going on the hunt, but I haven't had time.) Trip in last month I saw that big bear and enough sign that makes me want to go back. I kinda wish there was a trail into this place as it would be easier on my body. -Then again, someone else would have been there before me. Weather looks promising!
-
I'm hoping the weather cools down slightly...foretasted to be in the 80's with low 50's at night. Would like to see a 10 degree drop maybe even a 15, and dare I say 20...

Very excited. Second time for me with my 9 year old daughter in tow. She thinks it is the coolest camping trip ever. I did my first trip solo and saw more animals, but the trip with her was a lot more fun. We did a 16 mile round trip with 3000+ ft of elevation gain and she couldn't stop smiling. I was one proud daddy. Bringing a fishing pole this time.

Good Luck to all you guys and gals heading into the backcountry!! :hello:

Got a few weeks left for my season...had a dream last night about helping a guy I used to know packing out his Elk....then I'm in a meadow watching dozens of bulls getting spooked and running off. I see a coyote running around and get of a few shots. Then a small gray blur grows into a Bobcat...30 feet tall. I dropped it in one shot then freaked cuz I didn't have a tag for it... :dunno:
Pepperoni and Jack Daniels BBQ sauce before bed time.. :yike: :chuckle:

Best of luck everyone.. I may be delayed and end up hiking in late.. All these fires are keeping me busy!
-

-
Headed in on Friday with my dad and brother...cannot wait. My brother harvested this bruiser last year and I'm looking forward to topping it this year! Good Luck All and Be Safe!

Nice deer! You guys going into the same place as last year?
-
Yep
-
That is a funky and great looking buck

I wonder if any of the high hunt areas will be shut down, or partially shut down, due to the fires?
-
I haven't been on the high hunt in about five years. I was really looking forward to getting up there this year. Started making some preliminary plans and wouldn't you know it, I drew a late season rifle tag. Now, I think I'll put my efforts into that tag. Next year i am certain I wont have a late tag, so I am looking forward to going back on the high hunt. Love this time of the year deer hunting in the high country. Good luck to you guys headed up.

Loaded up and headed out as soon as we can bail out of work tomorrow. Way too much unnecessary stuff in my pack which is way too heavy.
Hope to not see any of you up there LOL. Good luck to all, shoot straight and be safe.
-
AAAAaaaah...I've yet to get my ass out of work yet! :bash: To many loose ends. Pick up BIL at Seatac at 11:00, drive up to Bham to drop off un-needed stuff, and hit the road! I can't fricking wait!!
Same all around wish everyone a safe and hopefully successfull hunt!
-
Good luck everyone. I hit the trailhead Monday morning. Coming back Thursday.....or earlier ;)

Loaded the pack.... Slung it on my back.... Stepped on the scale. Right about 32 pounds outfitted for four days! Well... I won't starve to death. There are a few more little things I'll stuff in, but I think I'm ready. I'm going for a hike. If I get an animal -it'll be a great hike.
Everyone be safe!

Meeting up with my good college buddy and hunting partner for another high hunt. I look forward to this time all year every year. I will be out for 10 days :rockin: Nothing like getting paid to hunt! Good luck everyone!
-
I'm jealous!! I get to go play starting the 20th.. Fire season made it impossible to take the time off I wanted, but I will be pushing 21 days consecutive work early next week which means mandatory days off.. So at least I will get out there for a few days!! I'm sure some bruisers were shot this morning.. One of them most likely being eyeguard's; he is up in one of our spots. :)
-
BUCK DOWN...Story and Pics coming!
-
Congrats!! Same with eyeguard.. He even has an awesome self-shot video..
-
Nice going you guys!

Nope, it was painfully slow where we were at. It was a good backpacking trip though.

Im excited! I am going to set up base camp then try for another 3 miles back into some ugly action. There is a finger/big gulley/bowl I want to hunt, but it gets dark early in there, so by the time I get up there, it will more than likely be getting close to dusk. I decided that I will be trying to stay the night up there one night, depending on snow/conditions. Last year there was about 3 inches of snow and snowing at that spot.
Either way, I am headed up there, there is a buck at the base that beds down there with my name on it. Good luck all, be safe!
