Well, those of us with Canon 10D, 20D, 30D, and 40D cameras are now going to be outdated. Rumors and slips of information show that a new 50D is going to be announced in the next few days. Looks like it is 15 megapixel, up from 10 on my 40D. It has a high definition lcd unlike the 40D. The same autofocus system, but I'm ok with that as long as the focus points are placed more toward the power points. No weather sealing, which would be nice on those rainy days. Looks like I'll have to upgrade here. 15 mp would be nice for landscapes and heavy cropping. We shall see when it's officially announced.
Am I the only one excited about this crap on here? :IBCOOL:

Damn, 15MP! Sounds like it will be a nice camera. I currently shoot black lenses though, so..... :chuckle:
-
My wallet can't keep up with it. I'm still shooting the 20D.
-
My wallet can't keep up either. I've got a perfectly fine 30D - for now.
-
Will it match large white lenses? :) I'm with Timber on current cash flow though.
-
Mine either!
Just bought the Sony A200 for the wife and Cohoho's Kimber .45 for me. It will be awhile before I have ANY cash-flow!! :'(
-
Yea I'll probably wait and purchase the 60D!!!............... :chuckle:

I'm sort of with you guys...but I could really use the 15 megapixels. It's like a digital zoom as you can crop out more. Also, it's hard to tell what photos are in focus when reviewing them on the back screen for me. The new high resolution screen will be easier to tell if photos need to be erased because they are out of focus. I'm not sure if I can resist upgrading... I do know I'm going to try and wait until the price comes down a tad. Last year I bought the 40D at $1500 and then it dropped in price to 1k within 3 months.
Bone - it's black, unlike your big lens. My wife says I only like the big white lenses because they satisfy my manly dominance. Not sure if she is correct. You and I should try and convince our wives that white lenses are the cheap line, and that black ones are expensive. Not sure this will work for me now that she already knows what L stands for...
I think I could get $850 for the 40D and the 50D should be 1-1.2k within a few months after release. That's no so bad of a difference.

Good Gosh! 15 megapixels! :yike: When will it all stop? I would love to have a new camera, but there is no way I will be able to convince my wife! :(
The new high resolution screen would be an awesome addition for me because of my failing eye sight, but it is going to have to wait for a while. :(
My 30D can already do more things and take better photos than I can, so I guess it will be in my possession for a long while.

When will it stop? Looks like the companies like Canon have already got 50 megapixel sensors they are testing. Sony is coming out with a 24 megapixel sensor to match Canon's soon, as well as Nikon should be releasing a D3x with 24 megapixels to finally match Canon's 1Ds3 after being behind for a long long time... With this kind of renewed competition we will see some amazing cameras in the next 10 years. One thing will remain constant...we will still need quality glass.
-
Kind of hard to convince someone It doesn't cost much when it comes out of a hard case built straight from NASA. :chuckle: I should have listened a little more aobut how much it weighed though. Gonna have to hit the gym.
-
Damn and I only have a Canon S2.
-
15MP, that means my next I-Phone will have 8MP like my 20D :chuckle:

If you are in the mood for saving your pennies for a new digital camera, there is a new Hasselblad in the pipeline!

Some pipeline and a lot of pennies.

damn for the price of that i would just hire a pro to follow me around
-
40K for that camera and it's difficult to use, noisy sensor, and will be outdated in a few years. Crazy.

Damn I only have the $5.00 walmart specials.. I believe they also come in water proof.... :lol4:
