Just wondering what you all shoot, for me i am a hoyt fan. I shoot a trykon for big game and a ultra tech for carp.
-
I shoot the Mathews Outback and love it!
Arrows.....I shoot the Beman 340's camo, tipped with 100gr. Slick Tricks. Combo works pretty good with the bow.
-
Matthews Z-max, I know its old, but its fast and quiet.
Arrows- Easton ACC 360's.
-
Ultra tec and Acc's
-
Ultra tec and beman 340s.
-

-
I shoot a Hoyt, beautiful bow, not a bad looking moose either.
-
Thanks, I need to get that stinking thing measured. They measured it at the show here for the competetion, but not officially for Pope. The spread shrank 3 INCHES
-
I shoot an old Mathews LX. Bone that pic could be acover shot for traditional bow hunter. That is friggin cool.
-
Thanks GUYS. I'm hoping to see it in the Eastman's shortly. If they weren't going to publish it, I had thought about submitting to them.
-

-
Sierra (my better half) got those for me for our three year anniversary
-
Choclab, with arrow decorations like that you can always check for failing eye site in the field. hahahaha
-
OK, so much for traditional, I want one of those and that one and that one.....
-
I have a Hoyt Razortec.
-
I got my new rig. I love it. It shoots a little low for me though. I have to up the poundage and shot a little lighter arrow for longer pins. I am putting a Fuse 2 piece quiver and 10" stabilizer on it next week.....Ross CR337....got a good deal on it too!

Mathews Switchback XT
Spot Hogg Hunter
NAP 2100 rest
-
Just switched from a Hoyt Raptor to a Mathews Switchback. The Hoyt was a good shooter but once I shot the Mathews I had to pick one up.Put a Black Gold sight, Nap Quick tune 1000 rest, S qoil stabilizer and a True Glow 5 arrow Qiuver. Hey Choclab, were can a guy get some of those crest wraps? thanks Rodger.
-
Alot of places. Umm... Cabelas has a few different styles and Wraps Unlimited has a bunch. The ones I have I got from AS&J Archery in Union Gap. He could order you some. They run about 18 - 20 bucks a dozen.
-
I shoot a Martin, just bought it last year and love it. I shot all the top of the lines bows and decided that the Martin was near the top and a heck of a lot more in my price range for a newbie!!! Any other Martin folks out there?
WACAT
-
I show a Bowtech, with carbon express arrows and a copper jon site. Pretty good set-up. I want a new bow though! Would love to get a new Mathews or Hoyt
-
use to shoot Hoyt going to hunt archry again. who make's a good Recurve. Rick
-
I think i shoot the oldest coumpound in the forum... I bought it my soph year in high school...
It is a martin Gonzo safari, the Ted Nugent bow... It was the coolest bow back then. Now i think man why did you have to buy that old heavy piecer...
I think it is 15 years old now. I have never killed anything with it but my day will come.
-
Bowtech Tech29 for the last 6 years. This year I'll try the Equalizer. Still trying to set it up. I'll be using maxima tip with slick trick. This is my elk set up.
-
May as well put in my 2 cents:
Shoot a Reflex Highlander (06)
Aluminum xx-75 arrows W/100 gr. Muzzy 3 blade
BAREBOW/INSTINCTIVE/FINGERS
Reflex 6 arrow bowquiver
This is my everything setup
Have 7 target broadhead range in my backyard
-
I shoot a Ross 334 with Easton Axis arrows and Montec G5s. Has anyone shot the new Ross bow? I hear they're nice, but haven't seen one around yet to shoot.
-
I shoot the new Hoyt Vetrix, like it alot. I had to by a new bow when my Hoyt pro vantage hunter split a limb at full draw and sent pieces completely through my left hand
That took 2 years to get back on the bike. :chuckle:
-
I shoot a 2007 Bowtech Allegiance. At least that's what is in my garage right now. I may try to pick something else up for hunting this fall. It's nice having a bow for 3D and a bow for hunting.
I set mine up with Trophy taker rests and a 7 pin Trophy Taker sight. usually shoot Fatboys for 3D and ICS's for hunting.
-
Another 2007 Allegiance shooter here. She's been great so far. ;)
I'm shooting Easton FMJs this year as well.

I have a 1988 High Country Sniper that has served me well. I'm shooting 85lbs with 65% let off. 2217s have left gaping holes in everything I've shot. The bow has no problems with removing rib bones either. My 20, 30 and 40 yrd pins are very close together.
-
Mathews FX, hoyt site, mathews over draw with a fall away mathews rest, carbon arrows, muzzy heads
-
Mathews switchback x/t, drop zone rest, spott hogg real deal, fuse quiver. I shot my last bow for 13 years before it blew up on me, I'm going for another 13. We'll see!
-
I shoot a bowtech allegience. It's a 2005 model. Doesn't have the fancy speed modules. Don't matter though. It drives tacks out to 60yds. If I was a coyote. I'd be scared to death at 80yds. I used to buy a new bow every year until I got this bow. Granted I haven't shot the newer models. I don't have a desire to upgrade this bow.
Using a trophy taker rest.(Put the same rest on my last 5 bows) Spot hogg sight. Alpine quiver and gold tip xt 7595 arrows.
-
I shoot a Bowtech Tomcat with 340 axis and shuttle t broadheads 100 grain
-
Hoyt HavocTec...i think it's a 2005 model. With gold tip xx75 arrows and 100gr muzzy. I need some new arrows, i'm down to the last few and they're getting pretty rough!
-
I hear you about the arrows. I need to buy at least a dozen for both my trad bow and compound. I bought a set of gold tips this last fall for the Trad bow, and they are spined a bit too stiff for it. They love to swing all sorts of directions.
-
I have the same problem, any arrow recommendations? I like to keep them long- well past my fingers w/ a broadhead- and i think my bow is set around 65 lbs.
-
Carbon or aluminium?
I'll have to see what number my carbon are. I use the gold tip traditionl grain carbon in their maximium length (31inch ?)for my longbow(85 pounds). I use the easton aluminium for my compound. I shoot an overdraw, but have a 31 inch draw length, so my arrows are still fairly long. I think those are 29 inch. I'll take a gander. I shot one set of arrows with my longbow that were seemed close to perfect. I was down to 6 in good shape, and wanted more for my moose trip, so ordered a new set with one notch up stronger spine. I guess I was shooting for absolute perfect. $120 later, I had a dozen arrows that were spined too stiff. Big mistake. Soooooooo I took the 6 good ones to Alaska with me. I used one of them. Other than some moose blood, I guess it still is in good shape. ; ) I'll check my numbers and get back to you. The carbon sure lasts longer than those aluminium ones.
-
Mine are carbon- the problem is i'm 1.5 hours from any bow shops and i can't be runnning back and forth all the time to make changes. I've been shooting the same arrows for four years...and haven't changed a thing on my bow since i bought it. I think it's time for a trip to town!
-
I hear you about bow shops. Mine has late hours...opens at like 5 at night until 8. I'm never in town during those hours. My Gold tips that work the best or old ones are 5575. the ones that are spined wrong are 7595. I had three arrows that came with the bow that were the 5575s and they didn't work the best. The batch I bought seem to work fine. Since its an 85 pound bow, I thought I would try the next spine up. I thought maybe I was right on the edge. Wrong choice. I don't know if these will shoot through my compound or not. I shoot the aluminium xx75 camo hunters out of it. I bowhunt, but don't know wnough about archery to know how well these other arrows will shoot out of it. I guess I should hit the range. I think if I put heavier broadheads on these babies they might also work. I hear you're not supposed to do that necessarily. ???
-
I shoot a Trykon XL and a Hoyt Gamemaster 55 pds
-
Switchback XT 60# and Beman ICX Camo 400's with Sonic 100's (this year).
-
Hoyt RazorTec, GoldTip Pro Hunters, 100 gr Wac 'Em, Toxonics sight and Trophy Taker rest.
-
Geez Bone. 85# longbow. That is a man's bow.
I have an old hoyt ramhunter that I shoot only occasionally now. I learned on a longbow so I shoot it like one. No sights and with fingers.
My goto bow is a John Schulz longbow made for my Dad. It is 58# at 26". I think that calculates to around 70# at my 29", and every year I am real sore when I pick it up again. I am unsure of the calcs per inch of overdraw. One of those things I used to know when hunting was my main priority. Now all that extra space in my brain is taken up with family things I need to remember. So if someone gives me that info, I'll blame you when I forget my wedding anniversary...again.

Im an equipment whore.......
Hoyt Vulcan 80lb
Trophy taker original
Cobra 7 pin
Stone mt strings
Acc arrows
Slick tricks
-
Martin Cougar III
Cobra 5 pin sight
Whisker Biscuit Deluxe rest
Whitetail arrows + Muzzy broadheads
What I would change:
Spott Hog team Primos sight
Trophy Taker Xtreme FC arrow rest
The one thing I don't like about the Whisker Biscuit is that it makes for a noisy draw. I've heard of some guys wiping non stick cooking spray on the shaft, but seems like it would attract a lot of dirt.
-
bow- martin saber se
sight- spot hogg right on 5 pin sight
rest- whisker biscuit
arrows- whitetail 40/65
broadheads- sonic 100 grains
I love my bow!
-
Hoyt Vulcan 80 # limbs
Spott Hogg Seven Deadly Pins
Trophy Taker Dropaway
Fuse Quiver
Fuse Stabilizer
Easton Axis Obsessions
115 Grain Muzzy Four Blades
I traded in my Switchback for the Vulcan and as of this point don't think I'll ever go back!
-
Northern Mist longbow
57# @ 28"
Wood arrows with Zwickey 2-blades
Need to start shooting more, and where I live is not conducive to shooting in the back yard, off the deck etc., like my previous home.
Anybody have any comments on the 3D club on Whidbey by the NAS? Comments appreciated.
Rob

Also, I noticed like 50% of the people posting here have SPOT HOG sites...does everyone love em?
Im kinda shopping for a new site...not really happy with the trophy ridge.

Tru-Glow 5 pin sight
Beeman ICS Hunter 340 27"
-
I bought a Bowtech 82nd. airborne a few weeks ago. Right now I'm planning on shooting it mainly for 3-d. I still use my axis 400 arrows but they are a little undersplined for this bow. It's way different than my Mathews in the way that out to 40 yards there is very little arc. It's taking a little while to get used to it but I think it will be worth it in the long run.
-
I just upgraded and bought a Bowtech General, I shot the 101st and it sure made a loud popping sound when it was shot does the 82nd do that too?
I use a whisker biscuit, alpine 5 arrow quiver, easton axis arrows, and a copper john deadnuts sight 7 pins with the fiber optic wrap. IMO that sight is the best bang for the buck if you are looking for something more affordable than the Spot Hoggs.
-
My 82nd seems to be very quiet. I haven't shot any of the other Bowtechs. The design of the General series looks very interesting.
-
Bow: Mathews Switchback XT
Sight: Trophy Ridge Rhino
Rest: Fuse Whisker Biscuit
Stabilizer: Fuse Axium
Arrows: Beman ICS 400's
Vanes: Blazers
Broadheads: 100 grain G5 Montecs and Magnus Stinger w/bleeders
-
I shoot a Mathews Ignition, 40-50 lbs. (yes, youth due to my short draw length of 24), Easton Axis 500, Spott Hog, 5 pin., Trophy taker. Having a delima with using a range finder that I actually don't like and then packing binos. I would really like to find a combination of both without spending alot of money. Haven't found it yet, but still looking.
-

Let us know when you find one! I have the same thoughts about carrying both!
-
BookwormsWife, how is that Ignition working out for you? My wife also has a 24" draw and our local bowshop also recommended that bow. I've been thinking about getting one for her.
-
Bookworm,
I think the reason the 101st made that sound is because they had the speed mod on the bow instead of the smooth mod. You can choose between both, I am not sure what I got on my general but it is super quiet and has no kind of vibration or hand shock what so ever. Not as smooth of draw as the mathews. I also shot a hoyt katera, that was a real nice bow also.
