We have no idea what this would score. Its my dads deer shot in Colorado last year.
-
165 gross
-
M-Rays guess will be 165 1/8 :chuckle:
-
164
-
AH HA! finally we disagree! my first impression is 170! let's get someone to score this puppy!!!!!!
-
169 gross. Nice buck!

I'll say 162 2/8!!!
-
i say 158 3/8
-
guessing 163
-
I can put a tape on it if you want to come down to tenino?
-
No Black Diamond is way closer for you  ... I'll put a tape to it!

Its really not that big of a deal, we were just curious, plus there is a taxidermist that lives a few miles away from me, who will do it for free
-
Im going to say its in the 150 class.
-
I dont know anyone that charges to score antlers, it should only cost if you enter in a book. ?
-
I'm gonna go wth mid-140's tops. Tell your dad I'd be happy to score it for him. I'll probably see him for coffee this week
-
Upper 140's.
-
146 gross, nice looking buck tell the old man congrats
-
140 class buck
-
I would say mid 140s gross.
-
I think I way over guestimated on this one :chuckle:
-
I may have too but I went went with my first thought and resisted lowering it ... sometimes when they are turned a bit in the pic I get fuzzed on my guess! but it's more than likely 155 -60.
-
Im going to say its in the 150 class.
155 :yeah:
-
142 1/8
-
153 4/8
-
162 1/32 :P
-
147, he has short main beams. Nice looking buck though congrats to your dad!
-
Yes, short main beams and looks to be barely ears width wide, maybe 19-20 inches.. i would guess lucky to make 140. But he is a nice buck, looks to be about perfect side to side.
-
I'm gonna say hi-140's
-
I put it to paper and I am still going to say it is 160. Those are some deep forks.
-
Those are some deep forks.
Yeah I'll agree I have a friend that has a buck no wider than 22-23 and it went 193 ... width is only one score that can be made up with deep forks but still not the 170 I originally thought but your in there at 150 to 160 Tl! I was so trying to put down something that wouldn't be the same as Bucklucky that I went against my better judgement! :P
-
Yeah, that Bucklucky guy is bad news. Hang around him to long and you are probably planning bank robberies, visiting strip clubs, and smoking and drinking the day away. Must be all those taxidermy chemicals. :P :chuckle:

So whats wrong with that?

Its really not as big as you guys think. I put it somewhere in the 18" width range. The forks look nice but its decieving because its being pushed away from his body. Mains look to be short as well, I still think mid 140's gross but what do I know about judging deer. :dunno: Nothing wrong with that buck at all though, a couple more years and he would have been a shooter for me. :hunter:
-
155 1/8............... :)
-
Heck, I'll definately defer to the big buck shooters on this one. I don't get much practice scoring bucks when I shoot those dink 3 points.

Gee, Thanks alot! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
low 140's max
-
this is a mediocre buck..... high 140's dont be sad.....
-
I am still sticking near 160 even with all the 140 guesses. Here is what I come up with. Where are my eyes deceiving me. I want to know so I know where I misjudge lenths(for the 140 guesses)? Not saying I am right by any means, just curious now.
MB-20
G1-2.5
G2-18
G3-9
G4-8
Mass-4,,4,3,3= 14
Total= 71.5*2= 143
Spread= 17
Gross=160
Mass could be 15, That is why I guessed 162-163 :dunno:
So what is the score?? Its killing me.
-
I'm saying 160ish too. Nice solid 4 point with deep forks. 22-23" spread. :twocents:

MB 16
G1 1 1/2
G2 16
G3 7
G4 6
Mass 4, 4, 3, 3, =17
Total = 63.5 x 2 = 127
Spread 18 but spread can not be longer than main beams so ( and I believe that is for gross or net if not add on 4 inches) 16 + 127 =143
I think you are off the most on the main beam guess.
-
By the way would somebody that has a buck that did score 160 please post a picture.
Thanks
-
151 6/8
-
I was comparing to the 140 that I killed and it appeared to have a few inches on every tine all the way around. Looked bigger to me :dunno:
-
That is just because yours is really about a 120!
j/k, I agree with you.
-
I did go to school in Omak, my math skills are likely that of a 2nd grader :chuckle:
-
Bigshooter, I may be over a bit on mains after taking a closer look. Closer to 18". But there is no way his G3 is 7" and G4 is 6". They are 9"-10" and 8"-9". The ear length is suppose to be 9"(mature buck and this buck might be closer to 8" ear) and that G3 is longer than that bucks ear(I cheated and used a scale ruler).
This is a good discussion. I have never really looked close to score deer until the past few years. This thread could end being very informative to those learing to field judge bucks. We have many 160 guesses and many 140 guesses. I can be humbled and will be the first to say I was wrong if I am.
Dang we need an official score!!!
-
+1
Pictures can be decieving as well. I already posted that I overguestimated his score :chuckle: But I will stick with it , I think it is more like a 148.
-
145, end of story. Give me my field judging Merit badge and a cookie. Please.
-
150 maybe. No main beam. His lessor left side is keeping him from being a mid 150's I think. Nice buck though and I'm sure the shooter was very happy.

Ya not quite, this was the small one. :bash:
-
I would guess 145- 150
-
I tried to score it and got 140 5/8, but I know I did it wrong and i believe it is at least 5-6 inches bigger than that.

Since I guessed 146 gross I think you are right ;) :chuckle:
-
wow , my first thought was 145, then i saw buckluckys guess and rethought it. but ,short front + narrow = 145 .i am sticking too it.

You are talking about a guy that clearly has no conception of antler size, he still thinks his bull is average  :iamwithstupid:
-
Nice buck! I'd say about 145!
