Title: cedar bails
Post by: highmuley on September 19, 2012, 12:50:43 AM
I called Dells feed store this weekend to find out about cedar bails (for shootin into). They said they did. So I show up ther and they try and sell me loose bags of cedar! *censored*s! Does anyone know were I can get ACTUAL, tightly packed cedar bails? Note: I live in bonney lake so pierce or south king counties. Thanks

I use the bails as back up. Straw doesn't stop the arrows. I had a "target" (cheap though) that that I blew up and I don't want to spend a ton of money on a target....what do u recommend for a inexpensive, quality target?

The old company we used to get them from in Long Beach later became Pacific Bow Butts.  They quickly abandon the cedar and started using straw.  They were pretty nice at first and the arrows were definitely easier to get your arrows out of.  Not sure what happened recently, but the guys that use them a lot are complaining about them recently.  Hear they are wearing out extremely quick.  I hate the things so I haven't shot into one in probably five years.

I started using the big range "Block" and have not looked back since.  If you just use field and target points in them you will definitely get your money's worth.  When shooting broadheads I put a Rhinehart broadhead target in front of it.  Or if I've got a lot of cardboard on hand I make my own broadhead target out of that banded semi-tight.

Sand wears out arrows quite fast, but a half truckload of loose sand never wears out and is quite a bargain.  When the season is over you can use it to lay pavers in the yard.  That makes the wife happy and stops her complaining about the pile of sand out back :chuckle:
