Well opening morning came around for muzzleloader, My dad and I headed to the sage brush country. I spotted a about 10 doe's within 20 minutes of walking down an old quad road/trail. At first glance i saw horns of one deer walking over the hill. Pulled up my glasses and saw it was only a 2x2. I figured there had too be something a little bigger with that many doe's. So we waited for all the deer to move over the hill and the stock began. We snuck up to where the deer had crested the hill and saw they were about 100 yards away feeding on some bushes. We glassed the small 2x2 and 2x1 fighting and locking horns for about 5 minutes before i noticed something a little bigger just up the hill behind a large pine tree feeding. I quickly pulled up my glasses and noticed it had 3 points on one side and 3 on the other. I whispered too my dad there is a bigger buck up next to the tree. He put some eyes on it and gave me the signal to back out and move further down and re-crest the hill lower to get a better angle on the buck. As i began to re-crest a doe pinned me down for what seemed like 20 minutes before she moved out of sight with the rest of the deer. My dad rejoined me about 50 yards down the hill where we decided he should take a squat and glass some new terrain while i would try once again to put the sneak back on this buck and he would catch up later. As i slowly creep my way down to where i thought the deer had moved on too. I was wrong the 2x2 and 3x3 were feeding way off from where i thought and the 2x2 caught me right out in the open and pinned me down. I thought i was screwed and he was going to spook, along with the 3x3. He stared at me for about 10 minutes before turning his head to check the doe's. I quickly sat down. He checked me a few more times before calming down and feeding again. I began to get ready to take a shot at the 3x3 when the buck decided to side hill out of sight below some rock shelves. My dad slowel crept down to me and asked why i hadn't shot yet. I told him that the buck was down below the rocks and i could no longer see him. As the 2x2 and 2x1 moved in the opposite direction of the buck i wanted to shoot. The 3x3 bolted out from under the shelf and and caught me off guard. I whistled and he stopped at about 125 yards. I looked through my sights and my dad says "can you kill him". I said yes, and his response was... "KILL EM". BAMMMM! I see dust behind the deer and my dad says "you missed, right over his back... no wait, you smoked him" Blood was pumping out if both sides. Complete pass through and he only went 20 yards, then rolled 10. The knight bighorn and 275 grain knight bloodline did the trick. :IBCOOL:
