I hunted it about 3 years ago when I went to Lower Columbia Community College.. I believe it was a weapons restriction unit. (No modern firearm) My buddie had some land behind his house that met up with some state land... I only hunted it during the rut though. Its really thick, and I wasnt seeing many deer. My strat was to find a doe during the rut and just watch her... Sooner or later a buck would walk out from the dark.... It really does work.. As far as where to go, I hunted just outside of Kelso, Wa.. I know there is some state land outside Woodland... Check the "gohunt" on Washington Fish and Wildlife web site. That should show you were to go..

Go to Washington Fish and Wildlife's website and click on the "Go Hunt" emblem. Its really useful, and you can find stateland, and alot of other stuff on there.. If you still need help Pm me and Ill try to see what I can do for ya..Also I was hunting elk and blacktails at the same time, you should buy both tags. I believe battle ground unit is still any elk.....

You are less than 1 hour from thousands of acres of private timber company land that is generally open to the public for hunting. Spend a little time looking around this website, WDFW website and the regs and you should come up with lots of options for hunting.

hey thx a bunch guys! I found a very undetailed map of the no shooting zone in this gmu which is a start. Headed down to fish and wildlife today to pick some brains, and see if they have a more descriptive map. Don't really want to travel 1 hr w my V10 lol. In ny i had 5 acres bordering state land and never had to get in the vehicle. Not so spoiled here! I think i'll figure something out and i will get the elk tag too. though, i've never hunted them. I bet it's a rush in close quarters.i'm a little hesitant with the after kill of such a large animal by myself. BY the way Busching does your buddy who's property you accessed hunt too. Also, anyone willing to include me in a hunt (37yrs old) huntin since 12 let me know.
Thanks again Big V!
