Will vail stay closed for opening weekend this year? If so that will leave a lot of people high and dry.
-
I believe Vail will be closed this weekend, if so Capitol forest will be a very busy place
-
Its closed to ALL access...sucks I know
-
I haven't called yet as I usually hit that area for late deer (big surprise, eh?). Are you guys getting that info from the phone line?
-
as of right now i know its closed but i don't think the rain friday would give it enough time to open up either.
lots of deer will be saved this weekend from closures. I saw the signs posted up today when i drove by.

i can tell you now that if vail is closed for the opener there is gonna be a mad rush of road hunters any place there might be a mile long road open, holy crap, its gonna be ugly on any piece of open state land, if hancock is still closed this weekend then i will be hiding at my house waiting for the football game on sunday :IBCOOL:, thank god for the sounder train ..... no worries fellas its gonna rain this weekend and all will be well for the 2nd weekend

Yes Vail is ging to be shut down and if we don't get enough rain ( almost 2") it will be shut down the following week. I can't wait to see how many tickets are written this weekend!
-
Seriously shut down in Skagit Co. Logger buddies told me they can not even go and start up their machinery :yike:
-
I might have to cruise the unit this sat instead of fri. hope my key works

I live right outside of a Vail gate and there is a camp of hunters on private land just chopin at rhe bit. On the good side of things, maybe there will be bigger deer in there next year. Or for me in late archery :chuckle:

It is going to be a freakin' zoo up there if they open it next weekend. They usually get over 2,000 rigs in Vail on each day the first weekend of rifle deer. Imagine how many will be up there if it is only open for one or two weekends. I still can't believe all the folks that am hearing that are planning on sneaking in or still believe that if it rains on friday or saturday that they will open it up. I was told by a logger buddy of mine who works at Vail that even employees risk getting fired if they are found on any of Weyco land during this closure. Just a friendly piece of advise.... Please do not try to sneak into Vail or any closed land. It is not worth the $1,000 - $1,500 fine and being banned from all Weyco property for life and possible criminal trespass charges. :twocents:

Hear that polar bear. On Saturday I drove past some of the Rayonier gates next to the main highway right outside of Forks, and a bunch of muzzy elk guys were going in anyways...parking right next to the gate with huge orange signs saying No Access. Can only imagine how bad it will get down by Vail for modern. :yike:
-
i cant see to many people parking at the gat in vail, that is a long walk just to the "Y" and your rig will be towed by the time you even make it that far, why risk it :dunno:
-
There are a TON of places to park other than the main gates to try and sneak in. A lot of little side roads and pull outs. It will be interesting to see how many actually drive by on Saturday morning.
-
That place was crawling with Security (told by an employee they hired 5 extra plus got extra wardens in there) last weekend. Ticket and No Tresspass issued on site no excesptions.
-
Wow! that really sucks. Good thing I am not going this opening weekend.
-
I noticed they put a billion more signs up. Dont chance it boys, I will be bidding on your rifles after you get caught :chuckle:
-
I bet after this weekend it will open up. I see rain in the forecast through most of the middle of next week.
