We had a really fun hunt! Bright Aspen thickets, rim rocks, juniper, sage, prairie, huge bull elk and some dandy mulies! Not to mention the terget species, hundreds of them too! We passed several up looking for the big one, unfortunately we never found one! For this unit that was strange, but then again it is in a drought and that can stunt the growth. We took the best we could find, and enjoyed the country tremendously!

Congrats. I hope to get over there next year!

Too bad about the quality but lope hunting is sure fun regardless.
-
Congrats. Hoping to use up my points the next couple years or so.
-
Congratulations. What part of the state did you hunt?
-
Still a fun hunt no matter the size, congrats :IBCOOL:

Bob,
Unit 59, south of Rock Springs. The three other tag holders got 2 slightly bigger than ours and one slightly smaller, we really struggled to find that "wow buck"! Still a blast! And for you guys going in the future, a must have is an elk decoy, the fold out kind, we used it twice to get close to groups of animals, one was from a half mile away, we got to 150 yards, walking straight at them! The next time, on my wifes buck, we got to within 225 yards, and held the herd there till the buck came back for a look! I won't go without a decoy now!

Sounds like a fun hunt! nice bucks! thanks for the heads up on the decoy
-
Those are some Nice looking bucks!
-
Just make sure elk season isn't open at the same time if taking a decoy.
-
Congrats on the speed goats!

Nice goats, its always a great time regardless. We hunted central Wyoming this year and found the same thing. The drought has really been taking a toll on not only the number of animals but the horn growth was lousy this year. I'm hoping within the next 3-4 years when we head back that this drought situation as turned around.

We were hunting the week before the rifle opener, and we were using a cow not a 6x6 bull decoy! LOL~

Good job, echo the same about the number of decent bucks. Lowest we seen in the past four years.. Although an area we explored had some bruisers, but of course we weren't drawn for that area...

Congratulations, that looks like wonderfull Country.
