Title: What things have you found out deer hunting THIS year??
Post by: Yelm hunter on October 18, 2012, 08:45:41 PM: So let's see some weird things that you have all found out in the woods while DEER HUNTING THIS YEAR!!

A buddy of mine found a piece of wood with a bunch of little men on it out in the middle of nowhere!! lol

What have you found?

Strange , we walked in 2 miles from a closed gate..The men asked me several times if I was going to pick it up and bring it home.. I said "no" Does not seem right!.. just leave it.. :bdid: Somehow I felt bad vibes.. :yike:

Then I found it again.

True story. He only went 75 yards but doubled back without a single drop of blood-but that's muzzleloading for you, never found a drop of blood from any shot, deer or bear.

Wyoming from here on out for me. I also found that someone in Washington thinks a orange hat is 400 square inches of hunters orange.

You can pick up sheds, but if they are attached to the head, you cannot pick them up.

I found this up on a mountain NE of Mazama.

I figured he was a fellow hunter. I paid my respects while there.

Trying to get back on schedule still... :chuckle:

\a red tail hawk,
\ alot of gates,
\a cougar,
\a swamp,
\a 100' tall pine tree falling right at me and ran for my life,
\ and a hot chick wearing a camo jacket at whistling jacks, ,

Late afternoon on opening day did come across a beehive about the size of a basketball wish I had pics.
Found a friend on this site to hunt with which is cool.
Something kind of weird happened too just after the beehive. sitting on the ground in front of a tree stump the guy I met from here walked over the hill a ways. While watching if he scares any deer my way, all of a sudden a bunch of dogs and two Mexicans come across where I was watching looking for goats :chuckle:. Asked one the time and he shows me his cell phone and his # lol.
No English or not very much. :rolleyes:
They leave, but a few yards away they started yelling who knows what :bash:
Met back up with friend and asked him if he ran into them to said yes and they yelled around him as well.
I guess take all kinds lol.

\nope already got a camo wearing hotting so no tag allowed, and she was busy helping her current tag holder look for a buck after a botched shot that they couldnt find :chuckle:

Jumped him four times and either his gf gave me away or he was already at full sprint. May end up taking my scope off and using iron sights next time. Furthest shot opportunity was ten yards and couldn't get him in the scope's sight.

Beer cans, beer bottles, chew cans, 16 oz paper cups, receipts for food from fast food places, 1/2 case paper boxes, dirty diapers ( from senior hunters :chuckle: ), plastic juice bottles, bait jars just to name a few. So I guess, having an ATV to clean lazy azz road hunters messes is a good thing........... :tup: Oh, we didn't go behind any gates either locked or unlocked. :tup: :chuckle:

And that the non raingear I was wearing takes exactly 30 minutes to completely saturate to the bone :( :bash:

And I also found out that the heater in the ol' truck feels really good when your cold and soaked! :tup:

My kid did a back up shot to nail it down. This week he missed one at 200 yards. Told him to take a shot at a makeshift target. 12 inched left at 100 yards. :bash: Got it fixed... He got one today.

Post by: steen on October 21, 2012, 10:41:15 PM: I found out that spending the extra$ 68 on a second deer (antlerless whitetail) tag resulted in a bonus color phase blonde bear and filling my antlerless tag in 3 days. Now just waiting til Nov. so I can fill a buck deer tag with a whitetail. Im so stoked!!!! It's been a great season so far.
