I have a young (6 month old) Britt which I have just begun to work on some birds. My hope is to get him plenty of bird contacts over the next couple months in a controlled setting and then would love to get him some contacts with wild birds.
Can anybody point me in a good direction where to find a decent amount of quail. I am not looking for anyone's honey hole but would appreciate any reasonable suggestions on areas which hold strong numbers of birds.
Thnx

Eastern WA. Check out the WDFW website, and look at some of the wildlife areas.

No to be picky but I was hoping for a little more then "Eastern WA." I know East of the mountains holds better number of birds then the West. I was looking to narrow it down a little closer.......
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thnx

We run into good numbers of quail along the Columbia River either by Wenantchee and even down around Vantage along the river. Hunt in the Russian Olive trees and along the water and should you and the pup ought to have a blast.
Best of luck.
Oh also go out of east wenantchee head down the river and turn onto the Palasad's road and run that out. Some fill free to hunt stuff there and chukar also.

West side quail. There are a bunch by the Fred Myers in Monroe. :dunno:
No kidding. A bunch.
Sorry not much help other than there and head east.

There's lots of quail around Chelan and Wenatchee if you head east. I hunted my 6 month old Britt on release Pheasants on the wetside and she did good. I'd reccomend afternoons not mornings though. You might also check Craigslist, sometimes there's guys selling pheasants, quail, and pigeons.

If you are down for the drive, head to ORONDO WA, and look for public land on the WDFW site. I see literally thousands of quail out there all the time. Chukar too. Too many people dont want to help a brother out. Hit that part of the state and you will find quail. Wenatchee valley, potholes region. Good luck!

The only place I see (only been on wetside) lots of quail is on the peninsula in the rainshadow area--the drier the better. See lots in the fields by the gamefarm all the way to the bay, and out along the fields along old olympic highway. The only real issue is it is like a checkerboard for land ownership, so you might have 50 acres that are okay to hunt then have to skip the next 25/50/100 to get to the next parcel. Sometimes when I drive out that way the area is crawling with them, all over the roads and sitting on fences.
