This Big Boy is a regular visitor and I'm wondering if he is young or past prime(http://)
-
me thinks he might always be a two point.
-
I'd tend to say no, cause he's so symmetrical and thin horned. I've seen some regressed looking 2-point bucks in the past that were pretty gnarly and had bases the size of a coke can. I think you'd see a lot more mass on an old regressed buck?
-
I don't think so. He's got a big body, but the head doesnt look gray and blocky of an older deer. If he was older I would think he would be heavier with more character
-
He looks like a decent mature buck with bad rack genetics (wish I could get those "bad" genes out here :chuckle: ), I'd take him in a heartbeat!
-
He is huge body wise just kinda shy on the antlers
-
Nice buck, the way to tell if they are old is to shoot them and see if they have any upper front teeth left if they don't then they are really old. :chuckle:
-
Looks young just because he does not have a belly hanging an older mulie will look like it has a beer gut, seriously. Plus his antlers are small thin. Could just have bad antler genes and good body genes. fattin him up with some food plots and shoot him in a few years after he nice and fat!
-
Looks mature but not regressed. There's no mistaking an old Muley buck, even when their headgear falls off.
Bad genes I think. I watched a buck that ran with a team of does for three years. First year a spike, then a 1x2, then a 2x2. He got hit by a car luckily because that's some terrible genetics.

well this guy hang out in Town and the area he had his picture taken in is probably100' bx 200' and am thinking of making the whole area a food plot with the antler enhancing mix for the future. Just to see if the enhancing food plot mix works

Not sure there is a cure for bad genes. Other than culling! Of course this state doesn't believe in that I guess. He will probably die of old age as a two point. Or become wolf bait.

2-3 yrs old. An old deer has a well developed large brisket and they look old in their facial structure.

Thanks to everyone for your input Now I guess I'll try to see if better nutrition will help him develop a better rack next year

Super Deuce!
