I have looked and worked hard at seeing a buck to no avail. I have seen elk, bobcat, does everywhere but no dang bucks what is my problem :bash:
-
Keep hunting the doe's and you will eventually find a buck almost guaranteed !! keep at it especially if the weather is crappy !! Oh and don't go home for lunch at 10:00 !!
Also if you see does on the move go where they came from as usually there is a buck following behind !!

You need to look for a sign that reads "The Buck Stops Here".
Seriously, it's difficult to answer your question with the limited information you provided. Where were you hunting? Which deer specie? What hunting method? How long were you out? What time of day did you hunt? What elevation? How far off the road did you get? Was anyone else seeing bucks?

Your problem is that you have only 3 posts on Hunt-WA. You should've signed up months ago and you'd be out there with a pro! :chuckle: :chuckle: Welcome to the site. Someone here will help you out yet.

I am new to this and im figuring it out so be patient. I am looking in the white river area i have seen only does and i know that a spike was pulled out a mile from where i was or so. Im looking for Black tails. I get there about 6 to 630. Should i be in earlier? should i use sents yet? should i roam around or sit put?

Find the fresh sign and stay put. The bucks will show up.
-
Be in your spot 30 minutes before shooting hours.
-
Someone has to be assisting in sustaining a deer population, I am sure there are a few bucks around. Keep at it, you will find one.

Are you road hunting white river or hiking in?

The buck to doe ratio goes up after dark. Perhaps you just aren't hunting late enough :chuckle:
Seriously though, sounds like you are hunting hard enough and using your eyes plenty. Just keep after it. Unless you find a good bedroom with a lot of buck sign you have to cover a lot of does before you see a legal buck in Washington. Especially on the wet side. I tend to get excited every time I see a doe. It means the ratio is getting closer and closer in my favor :IBCOOL:
Later it gets in the season the less nocturnal those bucks are going to get. And the more does that start going into estrus the more they are willing to step out into the open. If you start seeing fresh rubs and tracks that are dragging across flat spots spend just a little more time in those areas. Also, be on the lookout for does acting funny. Simple things like walking with their tail cocked to the side, rapid tail vibration or walking while squatting a little. If you see those things hold true! There is usually a buck close by.
Good luck to you. Hope you end up on the right side of half a boy soon.

It's not at all unusual to see more does than bucks. I don't know what the buck/doe ratio is in that area, but it could be low and is most likely well under 1:1.
If you're seeing lots of does, and you're in an area with bucks then it's simply a matter of time.
Blacktails are a really wary specie, and they live in some of the densest country around. Keep at it: "luck" happens when preparation, perseverence, and opportunity meet.
When you tag one, it will be a well earned trophy!

I haven't seen anything here either, just fresh sign. Half hour after I left my driveway the other day there was a buck standing in the yard. A buddy also pulled a nice bt out of white river. They are in there just have to get away from the people.

I couldnt agree more with not leaving for lunch. The majority of the bucks that I have harvested have been during the middle of the day.

the only bucks i have seen this year have been at around 11am-1pm.
-
On the eastside this year all the bucks we were seeing were comming out after 09:30 it was the does that were up at the crack of dawn we went 3 for 4 all killed between noon, and four. Keep at it get in early, and wait for them to move they will.
