I've already dropped $9K into this rig since I bought it. What's another problem? I don't know if they're related, but i had my engine replaced about 6 months ago and my heater core just before that. I've also replaced the right rear light assembly, but have put liquid gasket all around it. Since I replaced the engine, water is coming in somewhere in the back and filling up my spare tire compartment. It's soaking wet on the right back corner of the cover for the tire compartment.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

I would place a wager that a line for the rear washer has come off/apart. :twocents:

Thanks for the reply, WC. Can you please explain in such a way as an idiot would understand?

I had this happen to me. It was the seal around back hatch. It only takes a very small slit to cause this.
-
hes talking about the fluid sprayer for the rear wiper. i would be checking the door seal. but working for Chevrolet for few years and doing all the water testing the easiest way is to put one person outside and one inside with the hose and a flashlight. if you cant see where its coming from start taking panels off till you do.

:yeah:

JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket :chuckle: My wife has a '95 Cherokee with 236k miles on it. Been a good little rig for her.

Is this something i can just order the gasket and slip it in a track or something?

There's no fluid for the rear wiper that I know.

If it has a rear wiper it very likely has a washer to. :twocents:

Yes, it is very easy to replace. As stated before, the rear wiper fluid hose could be leaking as well.

Did they EVER make Jeep that wasn't chock full of issues? :dunno:

No, but I drove my 84 Cherokee for hunting until last year. 280,000 miles and every problem was minor and easy to repair. I love Jeeps.

Yeah I think they're cool and at times I've wanted in on your gang. But I get a sense that if I looked back on this forum and many others that you'd find more ppl asking about Jeep repair than all others combined.

Wow, I have a rear window washer fluid thingy! Who'd a thunk it?
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Does it work?

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Does it work?
Don't know. Didn't know it was even there until this thread and I'm working very hard today.
-
 Gotcha, have someone help you. If it works it is very likely not your issue. Hit the button for it and listen for the pump to run, if it does and nothing comes out there is a decent chance that it is the issue.

LOL, probably right.

Will the excitement ever cease? Hey guys, I have a washer on my rear window and it works! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: So now, I guess I look at the window gasket.

Look around the bottom. Throwing tools and other stuff in back can hit and damage it.

Tools? I didn't even know I had a window washer and you think I'm trucking tools around? Ha! :chuckle: :chuckle: I'll check, Scout. Thanks

Ok, Ok...Throwing guns and backpacks in there then.

It won't leak unless you use it. If you didn't know you had it I doubt you were using it. It uses the same fluid as the front and a different pump.
Water leaks are some of the biggest PITA problems we deal with.
Body seam leak although that would be wierd on an older rig. Definitely not a common issue. You might try the seal around the lift gate opening. See any water trails in the dust anywhere??

No trails, just a puddle on the carpet at the rear right corner of the tire hatch. Seems to me like the window gasket, maybe the whole rear hatch.

Good point, thanks for making me look like a moron. Like I need the help. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Did they EVER make Jeep that wasn't chock full of issues? :dunno:
MY 1995 Gr Cherokee was rock-solid.
108k and nothing but basic maintenance and wear parts.
Did all the work myself, didn't trust anyone else to do it.

The last 3 grand Cherokees I've owned have been virtually problem free.

True, yet rarely do huntwa members drive Hondas in the woods, if they did there would be lots of issues with them as well. I have nothing but good things to say about the three Cherokees I've had.

Remember--The guy with the water hose should be on the OUTSIDE! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Water is said to be the hardest thing to keep in or out. Jeeps aren't the only vehicles to have problems. I bought a Ford Bronco II that had a bad windshield leak. Every time it rained I'd have to vacuum a gallon of water out of the footwell. Finally sealed it up with Silicone Sealer. I came to the conclusion that the windshield was installed by a drunk.

Flip the truck and leave it on it's hood overnight and see where the juice leaks out from... :dunno:
