Proud dad here. Also thankful dad for the help I received on this hunt.
Not sure who all knows, but I am scheduled for hip replacement surgery in November and December. Both hips. I have been pretty pathetic lately and not able to get around very well as you can imagine.
Hunting is turning out to be one of my kids favorite activities. Both my son (just turned 16) and daughter (14yrs) love to hunt. It is in our heritage, and it is in their blood. They have been hunting with me for several years and both have scored grouse, ducks and a deer each prior to this season. Last year we hunted the Wedge and worked hard to score a whitey doe there for my daughter. The year prior we hunted the Wedge and my son got his first deer there too. After all the wolf eradication measures there this year we decided to give it a break and try a bit further east for the youth doe hunt.
After setting camp and hunting the surrounding areas east of Northport, we decided to visit with Dale and check out his incredible trophy room. Unbelievable to say the least. Dale had finished with his hunt for the day. After sitting around sharing sodas, talking hunting and politics etc... Dale had some time to kill and decided to show my kids some hillside he knew held some whitey does on...
Two hours later my kids had each punched their tags. Dale had taken us to the right place and we found a couple of deer to put my kids in front of. Two deer down, we had my kids drag the deer to the rig.
I cannot thank Dale enough. This one year I cannot hardly get around and even kneel very well to gut a deer and Dale stepped up and really saved the day.
I have always worked hard to hunt, and taught my children to do the same. It is not always a success, but the hard work often pays off. My kids have hauled meat, helped to gut, helped cut and wrap. Heck, they even roped my elk and guided it to the truck last year as we drug it to the road. They are more than willing to jump in and work hard.
Dale, you really did not need to join in and help like you did, this was never expected. You are a true gentleman and I am very grateful. Thank you for your help.
Here are the pics from our 2012 hunt. Enjoy.

Glad to hear "the meat is in the freezer", it was my pleasure, the only down side is that it's too bad it didn't take a little longer so we could have swapped more lies. :chuckle:

Ice, I totally missed this thread. Congrat's to you and your kids. That smile on their face is priceless! I wish I would have known you were up this way this year. You were 10 minutes away from me at Dales house. Just hearing you two tell lies would have been worth the price of admission! :chuckle: Oh well I'm glad you and the kids got to experience a great hunt. I hope the hips get in and you get healed up real quick. Next season is right around the corner. John
