Title: whisker biscut
Post by: bentshaft on August 31, 2008, 01:10:11 PM: has anyone had blazer vanes get munged up from the biscut??? they wernt getting pulled off just rippled mainly bottom left..but i switched from a noc to a d loop problem solved!!

Before that I was using just a basic 4" vane and found a drip of glue at the tip of the fletch kept them from being pulled.
Over time they would get a little wavy, but arrow flight didn't really seem affected.

Great idea Headshot, can't believe I never thought about that :bash: :mor: I have been wanting to go to this rest but didn't want the problems associated with it, this might help a lot. Even if the bristles freeze from the weather this would still allow it to function like its supposed too, thanks for the tip.

Never had a problem with frozen whiskers either. I firmly beleive that it is one of the better hunting rests on the market. Don't be afraid to give one a try, very inexpensive compared to other rests. If tuned correctly you can have excellent groups. C@%& vane up so that your bottom 2 vanes straddle the black whiskers. The black whiskers are stiffer to keep the arrow from sinking down at release.

IMO its the best way to fly!! Can always use arrow wraps. Near impossible to get vanes off a wrap.

After looking at it some more, I realized the blazer vanes were hitting the cable and not necessarily being affected by the rest; especially where it was always the lower right one.

I ended up putting a new cable slide on and it solved the problem. I bet if I continued shooting it like that, I would've started losing vanes.

Is it pretty consistent with a specific vane or are all of the vanes getting munged up?

Post by: Nash on September 03, 2008, 08:47:44 PM: I shoot 4" vanes and mine have gotten wavy from the whisker biscuit. Didnt really seem to make a difference, but it made me uncomfortable so I was never a fan. I went back to a drop away and have been fine.

Post by: robb92 on September 05, 2008, 02:32:07 AM: I have heard that if you trim the whiskers down that wil help and that a lot of people do this, I shoot 4 in vanes and do get the ripple effect but doesn't make a difference in where the arrow hits.
