Title: ELK around JBLM
Post by: stvnsnwdy on October 30, 2012, 07:10:40 PM: Im looking for some ELK around JBLM. With work and little time in the area i havent had time to scout. Does JBLM have ELK on it, or any areas around allow public hunting. I have been told to go to the Olympic National Forest. Can you hunt that area or are all the elk south and out east.

I have heard that people has spotted elk in area 22 & 23. However I have been hunting those area since 1995 and I have not seen any

Less in the last few years, but I still see evidence they are around when I get a chance to go and look. They migrate through on to private ground depending on pressure, troop movements, and shelling. :twocents: Not a high likely hood of running into any.

Post by: Mudman on October 31, 2012, 06:06:59 PM: There are elk there and they are there most of the winter. They have a loop I could draw on a map! About 12 to 18 head and rarely a bull with them. Behind Tank crossing/rez area is a part of that loop.

I personally never seen one and I dont know anyone who has taken one off base. Sure, there may be a elk or two every so often but I wouldnt waste my time looking for a elk on base. :twocents:

:yeah: Your right about the elk. I dunno why people have a hard time with this but they are there alot, herd about 12 to 18 head. They are there now, friend is hunting em. Hint go south! The cats are real bad 667, your probably hunting same area as me and ya seen em several times. Deer and elk killers.
