just wanted to show you guys a north carolina bear that was killed here in the mountains a rare large bear killed in the mountains. actually our larger bears are from our coastal area
My friend's sons opening day brute
A real good friend of mines son (10years old) killed an absolute hoss of a bear opening day...610lbs. Jeff (his dad) has run elk hounds all his life. Lucas made a 60 yard shot while the dogs was walking the bear. His pup he has been training all spring and summer "Dixie" was on the kill. This is one 10 year old, mature beyond his years. I'm proud for him and his dad, and wanted to share. Bears this size are extremely rare in the mountains. This one is the biggest I have personally seen in 25 years of hunting the mountains. i will post pictures later i hope, if i can figure out how.

In the mountains they are eating apples, acorns, grasses and bushes. Out on the coast/ eastern peidmont (where the huge ones live) they tear up the corn fields, peanuts, beans and any other ag land.
