I've never been muzzleloader hunting for elk in E. WA. anyone have any advice they could give me on a good spot for a spike or cow? Any help would be much appreciated. Looking for a spot to take my son to try and get him his first elk.
Thanks....

Most of the good areas south of Spokane are private, so acess is an issue unless you have an "in". Mt Spokane has some elk,but they are where you find them. Ive seen them North of Newman lake, out in 3rocks, really just can be anyplace. Mica is another good spot to try, but you will need the IEP permit for there and Mt Spokane. This will give you a place to start. Good luck.

What area are you hunting? E Wa is huge and units very from corner to corner.

I will be up calling for some archery hunters and scouting for muzzle loading at the same time. I will let you know what I find.

East of Colville there is Boise land and National Forrest. Both hold elk and whiteys

Thanks for the advice.
Miles...yes, I did shoot a spike and a whitey with my muzzleloader. However, the elk was just dumb luck. I was deer hunting at the time in Whitman County actually chasing a buck when all of the sudden....elk. Took the spike and got the buck a couple days later.
I've never been on an actual elk hunt in Washington with my muzzleloader.
