I will be going over on friday first time hunting over there hope me and my buddys pick a good starting point.
-
Where you guys coming from?
-
I'm already there, will be hunting everyday till I get a big one.
-
Any rutting action yet i live in tonasket ill be headed there friday afternoon was seeing fresh scrapes in the 101 during modern with my uncle
-
im coming from Granite falls
-
Saw lots of FRESH rubs and scrapes. I didn't see too many deer, but I jumped a few in the thick stuff and saw two bucks bolt followed by two doe. not sure what the bucks intentions were, only saw them running away. I'm pretty sure things will be good for this weekend and only getting better.
-
Ya we seen a bunch there last year 19 bucks in three days but none killed ill be sitting in my blind for the weekend
-
DO u guys know if nancy creek is good area to hunt
-
Im not sure where nancy creek is we hunt around republic.
-
it over by boyds
-
There are certainly some nice bucks in there. You really can't go wrong in 101. If it's whitetail habitat and it's in 101 then you should have good hunting. I hunt all over 101 (and 117 and 121) and you really can't go wrong.
-
Ur exactly right DB ive seen bucks all over the unit herron creek is a good area

I hunt around republic too, but there are a lot of deer everywhere in 101. Find the does, and look for rubs and scrapes. If you find a spot that has all three you should be in good shape.
-
Boyds is that on 20 after republic by the gravel pit?
-
other side of the pass between barneys and orient.
-
Oh ok i know where your talking now
-
what should i look for. for a good spot to setup a tree stand
-
If you know where to look there are tree stands left all over along with the bait cribs!
-
Look for fresh rubs and scrapes and wait by them even a quick ground blind and wait some tinks maybe and a bleat some good action will come they tend to check there scrapes often to see if any new bucks are on there turf.
-
its between bisbee mt and deadman creek
-
Walk around until you find someone's bait pile and then set your treestand up 20-30 yards downwind. :chuckle:
-
I know where its at now i pick huckleberries there in the summer
-
FYI. Might have a bit of snow and our temps are gonna be in the low 30's for the high the next few days from what the weatherwomen says.
-

-
A little weather is always nice way to start off the late season. :chuckle:
-

I've seen whitetails upto 4500 feet around here. The deer I've been seeing are hanging around the 2200' elevation. That's what my house is at, but they can be anywhere in between. Good luck !!
-
Don't hunt any higher than your truck can make it in a foot of snow is my rule of thumb :chuckle: Seen guys get all set up and then not be able to get to there spot. Last year we had 14 inches overnight and I was shuttling my friends to there hunting spots before I was breaking trail up to my spot...god bless cooper's. my buddies had toyo's :chuckle:
-
Toyos rock i'v been in two feet of with them
-
oh wiat thats when i had gas hog 2008 power wagon
-
good luck every one hit em where it hoyts
-
Ill be there..not hunting tho..helping gf get a buck.. becarefull of the rubs u see...some areas hold a lot of rutting mule deer and u make think u have stumbled upon the meca of a whitey rub line :chuckle:
-
Tomorrow me and my buddies will headed over for the weekend hunt tomorrow after work

Heck maybe I should set up a road side stand with maps! Kind of like maps to all the stars homes! I can see a business venture here. :chuckle:

Ha ha

The term "Local" is sort of a misnomer up there any more. I have been stumbling around up there since some time around the 1950's. But I have had folks tell me that they are local and have lived there for 5 or 6 years. So I like to consider my self a "commuter" sounds kind of westside don't ya think?
-
Hey maybe I could rent them!
For rent tree stand"
A stable stand set over a bait crib.
Some even come with bait!!!
I can smell the profits now and I won't stand a chance of having mine relocated. :chuckle:

We could start a hunter shuttle business with ATVs to the stands................ya think ????
-
Perhaps
-
I guess the disclaimer would be some stand have folks names on them. So if you have rented a stand and someone shows up and claims it. I would use the first come first served defense!!
I would think this would come under the derelict vessels and abandoned vehicle laws when they left them on State and National forest lands unattended.

...............well, we got a lot of derelicts up here. Most derelicts up here might not have a clue because they can't read ? Just sayin'
-
Derelicts as in abandoned boats!!
I saw a bumper sticker on a truck here last week!
I love Ferry county. When I saw the 2 folks in side it was kind of scary. :yike:
No wonder the westsiders lump us in a pile.
That's why I want to be a commuter. Just sounds kind of westsider. :dunno:
