you look up and go HOLY MOLY! THankfully I got some better pics of him. Definately a calender contender.

How wide do you guys think he is? Haven't done the math yet. Bet its up there though
-
28?
-
Mule deer ears polarbear, not whitetail :)
-
I'm *censored*ty at judging width. (that's what she said) I was trying to be conservative. Let's see, 20" ear to ear..... 32"?
-
deers ears pinned forward is 20-22 depending on how big the mule is. Conservative, go 20. (width of his head, he is probably a good 22 pinned forward) A deers ear is 8 average.
-
33-34?? Look's like he has some more years to gain some mass, sweet buck
-
mathematically.....22 inches = factor 28
x=.786
Spread equals 38.5 x .786
should be about.........30.3 inches
All dependent on how wide his ears are. I have a big buck with 24 inch ears pinned forward and a decent buck with 18 inches pinned forward. So alot of variance.
24 inch ears would equal 33 inch spread.
I thought he was about that when I saw him at first. I think part of the illusion is him being light beamed....... I hope he survives and grows to be bigger next year. There were alot of hungry permit holders out there with their standards dropping every day.....
-
He is exactly 6” wide. His ears appear to be about 4.375”. :chuckle:
I’d guess him right at 30”, if he’s over it’s not by much. Could be a little under.
-
When I shoot him I'll let you know how close you are to your guess' :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Nah but my guess would be 25" to 27"
Nice a$$ one bone
-
I guess 31" because he looks big. Like you said Bone, the light beams make a different look. If I didn't shoot him, he'd be 34" :chuckle:
-
I would say hes an honest 30 incher
-
Most ears that I've measured have been right at 23" outside. Granted, I've only measured deer in my neck of the woods. I'd put him at 29.
-
Nice buck!!! My guess is over 30... Probably closer to the 32" mark....
-
29.5
-
I'm sorry but I'd say he measures 20 inches......from my plate to my mouth! I don't worry about score until I've tasted them and then I score on how good they taste on a 1 to 10 scale.
-
Dont have a clue how wide i would like to see him on the hoof dont get to see deer like that very often
-
Pencil rack at best!
-
Love it when they are such beefers their heads look too small for their bodies
-
Hate to be the debbie downer, but I put him closer to 26"...

If you're talking greatest inside spread you aren't too far off. Greatest outside is probably pushing 30".
-
You forgot to subtract ground shrinkage :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

So how do most of you get your widths? I base mine on the greatest inside spread, which is the scorable number.
-
hey boneaddict---
I always see you posting monster buck pics...how much time do you spend in the field each year? Are these all WA pics? I would have to imagine your trophy room is quite extensive!
-
ALL Washington bucks. I wanted to get to Montana or Oregon, but just haven't made it. My time in the field has been decreased tenfold with my kids in their extensive sports schedules.
Silk, in this particular instance I was referring to greatest outside spread. You are right, inside is scoreable.
-
well, quite impressive! Pretty neat you get to see so many monsters
-
Im with gringo...29!
Now, who has a tag and who can shoot him?!
Cool pics bone. You sure know how to find em!

Gross scores and outside spread. Nobody cares about anything else.

Pencil rack at best!
Special permit- I would let him go. over the counter bow, muzzy or gun I might put him down but he needs a couple more years to grow. :twocents:
