So the rumor is two complete toads were taken a few days ago. Both off the hwy two cooridor. Anyone want to confirm with pics?? If you don't have pics we will assume you are fibbing..... :chuckle: :chuckle:

This is great :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Trophy toads for sure! Thanks for posting pics :chuckle:
-
Thank goodness I hate it when it takes 4 pages for the pictures of the requested "toads" to show up.
-
This is funny, but not get to sidetracked as I still want to see pics.
Rumor of one buck is he went 30-34 inches wide and the other was super heavy. This rumor started with a co-worker that just picked his deer up from the butcher.
-
??
-
No....supposedly this is not one of them.
-
Total photoshop job there buglebuster. No way those things are real.

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :yeah:

The one on the left has to be a new State record!

The one on the left has to be a new State record!
Sorry, not a chance. It's forks aren't deep enough and it doesn't have enough mass. I can tell you for fact after looking at that 1 photo its not a state record.
The one on the right is probably pushing 400 pounds though
-
I disagree Cedar....when a toad is bedded you can not get a good look at the animals mass. In order to properly estimate mass in the field one must measure foreleg + girth + width between the eyes + rear leg lenght when extended. This is clearly a trophy animal to the learned eye...you need to spend more time in the field judging them when they are not bedded down.

That's total hogwash H2O. Even though he's bedded, you can clearly see that his mouth is barely wider than his eyes - which anyone that's spent even minimal time field scoring trophy toads knows is a good indicator of trophy potential.
Look at the guy on the right - huge mouth, way beyond his eyes. Absolute toad. He makes the guy on the left look like a tadpole
-
Once agin Cedar you have embarrased yourself with your novice attempt at scoring and field judging. Anyone that knows anything will tell you that comparing the eyes/mouth ratio is 50% percent of the time misleading every time. You see....if you do not take the disposition of the animal into account you will be wrong every time. The two specimans are clearly of different states of mind. the one on the left is relaxed, non threatened, and has recently fed. The one on the right is cranky, hungry, and wishing the big one had not eaten the last grub. Since his demeanor is borderline volitale he is scrunching up his brow and appearing larger than he is.
Clearly sir you are wrong. However....I appreciate your attempt....we should have a beer sometime and continue the discussion.
-
I won't concede defeat until I see the official score sheet. Even then, I'll disregard that. I need to see this one in person. Then I'll still disregard it.
I will however join you for a beer anytime

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: nice one Cedar and in defense of your field scoring knowledge the one on the left appears to be long arming it by leaning backwards. :dunno:
-
:chuckle: I am confused. Is the girth of the foreleg or girth around the toads midsection. Plus shouldn't one consider using a scoring system that accounts for possible short rear legs that have tons of mass to them, that seems to be most important when judging a trophy toad.

Agreed Plateau. Total long arm job right there.

They tried that once but did away with it once hoof rot became prevalent in toads on the west side

Are these typical or non typical toads, SCI, Boone and croaket or??
Are these green scores, or do we have to wait for a drying period?

One on the right is typical. Non-typ on the left though, you can clearly see some junk in the form of a dropper on his right side.
Neither of them make Boone & Croaket though. I just don't see it :twocents:
-
I can't continue with you amatures.......Buckmark asking if they are "green" scored.......it's a fricking trophy toad!!! What else would they be but green. Nobody counts the brown ones as even worthy.....sheesh....
-
I don't know if I can read this thread anymore, guys at work are wondering why I am crying. I was able to suppress most of the laughing.
-
I just hope the person who took them, gives them back.

We are in agreement here H2O.
That was just poor form Buckmark. Green scored? Ever seen a toad brown scored? I sure as heck haven't.
-
Buckmark doesn't know jack about scoring toads.......wasps....yes.....deer and other lesser game....yes.....toads....not a chance. He is so silly that one.
-
Seriously you guys have made my day, let the weekend begin and thanks for the laughs, this is halarious. :chuckle:

I laughed at every post :chuckle:

I would have to agree.... With H20 and Cedar... :chuckle: But a trophy is in the eye of the toader.... Just because it doesn't weigh 600# or score 200" doesn't make it any more or less of a trophy to the toader.... Those are some mighty fine toads... I'd be happy to toad either one of them... Toaday is a great day....
-
:lol4: :lol4:
Thanks for putting up with the sense of humor everyone. Been a long week of bickering and it was a nice change of pace to laugh together
Have a good weekend everyone :)
-
Oh my god those are 600 lb toads! I am gonna run out and let everyone I know that I just saw two 600 lb toads. Oh my god... holy cow. Never seen a toad before, but I know a 600 pounder when I see one.

Run, that first one is clearly Jaba the Hut. I can't believe you would try to pass that off as a trophy toad harvested in Washington.
2nd pic - clearly high fence.
-
I gotta say this is toadal B.S. Theres no way those are Washington toads.

:chuckle: clearly Australian high fence
-
wheres leigh, she could conferm jaba
-
I also do not see any toe tags on those toads, it is clear in the regs that toe tags must be attached to toads upon harvesting.. >:(
I also think they were poached, look a the eyes, you can tell if they were taken at night with artificial light.....
-
Buck.....making apple pie as we speak......
Those pics are toadally awesome.
-
What a couple of big toads, rock on!
-
How this has made 3 pages is amazing. Someone forgot to put up the :jacked: sign. I take it these two toads I talk of are mythical creatures.
-
This thread never had a chance.
-
:yeah:
-
Im pretty sure i have the sheds from the toad on the left from last year. They went 31" then!!!!!!! :chuckle:
-
I seen a picture of a 228 inch buck taken out of the okanogen. will see if my buddy can send me the picture.
-
228" eh? I would love to see pictures and so would the whole site! I won't comment further until I see pics.

There have been some GIANT, palmated bruiser bucks taken this year in the Okanogan. My friends father killed one with a lot of palmation and was over 30 wide. Sorry, no pics. I know ... I know.

Is it legal to bait toads in WA? :dunno:

Nice Buck!! BTW, I saw his big brother this weekend while scouting in Entiat for my late season archery tag. I saw him at 300 yards w/naked eye and thought, "What the heck is an elk doing over here." Put the binos on him and he was the biggest buck I've EVER seen...anywhere!

Those are cross dressing elk! :yike: :yike:

yes. The toad in my avatar was baited late season. Tough to bring a toad in to a bait in daylight though.
-
Can we possible take this to 10 pages????
-
That's a hell of a toad there Jonathan!!!
-
Taken down south by my cousin Jethro...Hope you enjoy!!
-
Man...that looks toadlly photoshopped to me....
-
He's long arming...
-
hey where is his hunter orange :yike:
-
hey where is his hunter orange :yike:
His orange buck teeth meet state requirements....he just needs to smile. However he did forget to tag the thing emmediately.
-

thanks man. He finally stood still long enough to take that picture. Baiting is tougher than still hunting, catching a batch of flies is no easy task
-
Legally all flies caught must be done using chopsticks...no leg/wing traps!
-
Rough day at work so I re read this one again and am in a better mood now. Some real funny stuff hear. Thanks.
-
the unethical way to hunt toads. :bdid: :bdid: :bdid:
-
Thanks man, you "Toadally" made my day.

That's just her tongue.... Seen quite a few like that in my time... Next...
