Why would you own an AR when you can own an AK?

Why would you own an AR when you can own an AK?
Why would you only own an AK when you can own both :dunno:

Ar and ak

Why would you own an AR when you can own an AK?
cause I hate AK's and think they are extremely over rated
-
Should add a "Don't own one but would like to" category.
-
I have two they are fun rifles, but very expensive to shoot these days unless you reload.
-
You can buy it cheap from Big R when it goes on sale. $ 5.99 a box.
Or online if you look hard enough. IMO 223 ammo isn't very cheap to reload considering all the components ya gotsa buy to start.
-
I have an AR and an AK, my AR was built for accuracy and my AK is purely for fun, "bang" for buck I would take the AK for a fun gun anytime!
-
I own 5 of them, and starting to collect parts for #6. It would be easier to ask how many members DON'T own an AR! :chuckle:
-
I don't YET! looking at them & reading what you guys are saying about what works for you & waiting for the right time to say "it was a great deal & an investment, honest!"
-
don't wait too long, there are many out there that would love to see the AR taken out of civilian hands, including those in power.
-
I owned a mac 90 in the 90's, but not a ar. Loved the one I had sold it though. Hunted once with it too. killed a doe when I had a doe tag. One shot down. dunno about anyone else but was sporting not unlike any other semiauto.
If I can I will buy one again either a mac 90 or AR hopefully before their banned again.
-
Own one (love it), building another in another caliber. Just hope I don't lose them in a boating accident!
-
got a chance to shoot with the Navy shooting team this year. Only about 5% of the guys shoot .30 caliber, the other 95% shoot ar's, I now have one (Rock River NM upper) to shoot matches with, but as it just came in I havent had a chance to shoot it yet.. It would have cost me half again as much to have a competitive .30 caliber. (M1a and M1 Garand are the only legal .30 for the service rifle matches) That said I carried an m16A2 in Iraq, and while I was very careful about cleanliness- it did work, was accurate, and light for a full length rifle. I've never been a huge fan of the cartridge for anything much bigger than coyotes.. but we have put an awful lot of folks down with it. I dont like that it blows all the soot and filth into the receiver, but it works if you keep it fairly clean..

I have 1. Thinking of building another in 6.5 grendal
-
and AR I want one or two or ten......love shooting the one that I get to shoot sometimes....
and if anyone has an AK I could shoot I am game who knows might be fun might not never know until I try it
-
I love putting AR kits together, the seem to work just as good as other companies. Plus 400 bucks cheaper. If anyone is interested, www.del-ton.com (http://www.del-ton.com)

Carried one for 8 years in Corps. I have one lower and three uppers in .223; 7.62X39 & 458socom. They are pretty accurate, large mag capacity, however my AR has been in the safe and not shot for 10 years now, the M1 & M14NM always gets to go out shooting and hunting with me.
-
I've owned a few, down to two that I'll probably keep forever. One Oly arms 20" bull barrel that I load molyed 50gr v-max for. Too heavy for carring around but perfect for shooting sage rats from a shooting bench. The other one is a dpms sportical, a light 16" light weight for yote hunting and just fun shooting. I load cheap bulk componants for it that I find forsale in clasifides on hunting/shooting forums localy.

I've had 3, didn't keep any of them. Had an M&P, RR, and a Bushmaster. I just can't convince myself that I like them. It's has a little to do with the caliber, and a lot to do with the spring in the butt stock. That spring drives me crazy! :chuckle:

When wearing ear muffs that are touching the stock that spring noise gets on my nerves pretty bad. I only wear ear plugs when shooting my AR-15s becuse of that very reason.
-
Thinking about it more, I dont have tat problem with the AR that has a red dot on it. The higher optic has my cheak higher on the stock so my ear muffs dont contact the stock
-
I've had a few... Have only one now, 450 busmaster 16" barrel., it's nasty
-
they are a lot of fun--AR 15/30/50. Wish the boat would quit capsizing and tossing them in the drink....

The AR-30 and AR-50 don't count. They're real guns in real calibers. :chuckle: Not some hotrodded 22. :tung:

All well and good when they are available... been looking for a decent quality kit for awhile now... NO ONE I can find has them in stock... :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Should add a "Don't own one but would like to" category.
:yeah: Want one bad, trying to trade off my 7MM WSM for one...

When you get old and deaf like me, that spring won't bother you! :chuckle:

Colt preban matchgrade Hbar
I sold it in a garage sale. ;)
-
Does an R-25 count?
-
Built my first this year and already thinking about a build sheet for #2 in 6.5. I will have a collection by the time the kids are out of college for sure.

There should be a thread titled "How many members own an AR that's NOT chambered in .223?" I have 5 ARs, but only 2 are .223 caliber! :chuckle:
