I owned a mac 90 in the 90's, but not a ar. Loved the one I had sold it though. Hunted once with it too. killed a doe when I had a doe tag. One shot down. dunno about anyone else but was sporting not unlike any other semiauto.
If I can I will buy one again either a mac 90 or AR hopefully before their banned again.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Own one (love it), building another in another caliber.  Just hope I don't lose them in a boating accident!

got a chance to shoot with the Navy shooting team this year. Only about 5% of the guys shoot .30 caliber, the other 95% shoot ar's, I now have one (Rock River NM upper) to shoot matches with, but as it just came in I havent had a chance to shoot it yet.. It would have cost me half again as much to have a competitive .30 caliber. (M1a and M1 Garand are the only legal .30 for the service rifle matches) That said I carried an m16A2 in Iraq, and while I was very careful about cleanliness- it did work, was accurate, and light for a full length rifle. I've never been a huge fan of the cartridge for anything much bigger than coyotes.. but we have put an awful lot of folks down with it. I dont like that it blows all the soot and filth into the receiver, but it works if you keep it fairly clean..

I love putting AR kits together, the seem to work just as good as other companies. Plus 400 bucks cheaper. If anyone is interested, www.del-ton.com

Carried one for 8 years in Corps.  I have one lower and three uppers in .223; 7.62X39 & 458socom.  They are pretty accurate, large mag capacity, however my AR has been in the safe and not shot for 10 years now, the M1 & M14NM always gets to go out shooting and hunting with me.

I've owned a few, down to two that I'll probably keep forever. One Oly arms 20" bull barrel that I load molyed 50gr v-max for. Too heavy for carring around but perfect for shooting sage rats from a shooting bench. The other one is a dpms sportical, a light 16" light weight for yote hunting and just fun shooting. I load cheap bulk componants for it that I find forsale in clasifides on hunting/shooting forums localy.

I've had 3, didn't keep any of them. Had an M&P, RR, and a Bushmaster. I just can't convince myself that I like them. It's has a little to do with the caliber, and a lot to do with the spring in the butt stock. That spring drives me crazy! :chuckle:

When wearing ear muffs that are touching the stock that spring noise gets on my nerves pretty bad. I only wear ear plugs when shooting my AR-15s becuse of that very reason.

Thinking about it more, I dont have tat problem with the AR that has a red dot on it. The higher optic has my cheak higher on the stock so my ear muffs dont contact the stock

The AR-30 and AR-50 don't count. They're real guns in real calibers. :chuckle: Not some hotrodded 22. :tung:

All well and good when they are available... been looking for a decent quality kit for awhile now... NO ONE I can find has them in stock...  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
