So low97ram and I hit JBLM this morning for some duck hunting. We get there at 4:15 to set up in our spot for the morning hunt. The weather is cold and there was a thin layer of ice on the water, but no biggie.... We break ice to place our deeks and get our selves situated with over an hour until first light, then right before day light a truck pulls up, unloads a boat and goes about 40 yards in front of our set up, and then sets up less the 100 yards direct in front of us on this small stretch of water :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike: :yike:
Are you effing kidding me....right in front of our set up in our shooting zone :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: I was none the less a little pissed. It put us in an very unsafe hunting situation :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:
We had our head lamps on and made sure they knew we were there but they didnt even bother, just went about there business.
Then there was a few ducks flying high over there heads and they unloaded on them and I :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: arse of at them.
Bout 9:30 i decided it was time to get out of there, there were no birds flying so it was time to jump shoot. WHen we get back to teh boat launch, I find my truck is blocked in by that jack waggon :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
I start yelling, HEY, MOVE THE CHEVY TRUCK ITS BLOCKING THE ROAD and not a sole moved. I ended up driving my truck through the trees to get out of there, cause I was hot................ I come on, who blocks the enterance to an area so that the people that were there before you cant get out............... I will tell you, a moron does :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:
All right, rant over. time for :brew: :brew: :brew: :brew:

Trees? I would have pushed their truck out of the way before I drove my rig through trees.
-
Wow, as far as *censored* stories go on this site, I would say this guy takes the cake! Extremely inconsiderate all around. :o
-
Good reason to carry a chain in your truck. Should have hitched onto the weakest part of his bumper and given a yank to move him.
-
I know this guy... lets call him Spilly. he got blocked in by some ass hat THREE separate times. on the first occasion he chalked it up to stupidity. on the second occasion he left a polite note on the fellows windshield. on the third occasion Spilly noticed that the ass hat left his doors unlocked so he invited his two sopping wet labs that had just been swimming in skagit ditch water to jump in and dry themselves off on his upholstery. :hello:

That's cool :chuckle:
It would just be a tragedy to fall, and try to catch yourself with his truck with keys in hand :peep:
-
Reminds me of one of the great lines in music. " don't mess with folks who are strange to you". :chuckle:
-
Oh, I had some ideas but Low97ram was not for them and just wanted to get out of there :dunno:
I did report it to the Adventure center with the guys lic plate number but they wont do anything without the Hunt number, and told me to call teh MP's next time first but will make a report on them.
-
Trust me there was plenty of room to get your truck out. Btw it was 175yds on my laser range finder. Don't be so dramatic.

You are full of crap...... if that was you, you were lucky to not get peppered by shots....... you put your self in a dangerous situation.... and next time, park your chevy in the trees and brush to give everyone else a clear path out.
And if I can see the white of your eyes, it was not 175 yards.
And about being respectful of the other hunters.

I think he is joking

What is JBLM? Want to make sure I stay away from this place. Sounds like a cluster.

This here example is why i don't waterfowl hunt!! Way to many morans! :bash: :bash: :bash:
-
Relax.
I was working today, and I'd never own a Chevy.
Though most of us have had to deal with retards on public land. Remember to keep your cool when firearms are involved.

I dont know if it was him or not, but putting your self in harms way is not a joke.

The military bases.
And I have never had any issues up until this moron. Mostly good people :bash: :bash: :bash:

Sorry but I dont think it funny.
These guys put us all in a bad predicament, and I left because of guys like this.

Morans... Haha that must be the Buckley version of "morons". Don't always spell words how you say them.
:0)
I have to kick you some crap for talking smack about waterfowlers.

Joint Base Lewis McCord.

Ahh I have heard about hunting down there. Just haven't made it down to fill out the paperwork. Thank you for letting me know. Might need to keep myself up north. I have heard it's good hunting down there though. The gentleman I bought my boat from had only good things to speak of it.

Is this the first time you have been crowded? Used to happen to me ALL the time. Then I burned a bunch of gas, scouting. Now I don't have that problem.

I have yet to hear a good report off the base, ever.

What happened isn't funny but trailer's comment was.
Just tryin to lighten the mood, no need to let it ruin your weekend. Eventually this BS happens to us all.

Yes, this is the first time i have had any problems out there.
Everyone I have delt with or talked to out there has been nothing but respectful of others.

Never had a issue hunting JBLM until now :bash: :bash: :bash:
All people I have delt with were respectful of others up until today.

I will definitely take that comment into consideration. Things will have to be pretty bad on the north end before I start looking toward the dirty south for hunting spots.

Lol, dirty south. Having been to the real dirty south. I almost feel offended. Skagit is where you want to be.....

I was just tryin to lighten the mood, this stuff happens everywhere. There is post like this on every waterfowl forum in every state. It sucks, but it happens.

I feel your pain Gasman, same thing has happened to me twice this year, once in oakville, once in montesano on opening day. It's frustrating as hell. But I use it as motivation to knock on doors to find private land to hunt ( not that i have been extremely successful ) also, the delta is a good place to try if you haven't. Loram97 and i have been talking about getting out there together.
-
I would have left with a smile and 4 valve stem cores ;)

We checked it out last year but never hunted it. we were just learning the area.
We are waiting for a little more water before heading down there.
Had some private property last year but the guys losing the land in a few weeks :bash: :bash: :bash:

Hey Gasman! JBLM has hired 2 full time wardens. I have met both of them and they are good guys. I have been checked several times, both duck and pheasant hunting. I asked for their business cards and they both put their direct numbers on them for me. In this instance, I would have called directly. I can share the numbers with you if you pm me. There is no room for stupid people and stupid antics!
-
Rules say if someone is within 100 yards of you they WILL move or you will call the MP's. I was really tempted to when some guy set up directly across from us. I ended up trying REALLY hard to practice my calls whenever ducks came around. I was worried about getting peppered :chuckle: They didn't stay long. The comment made when they packed up was that they were sorry and didn't notice our setup until the sun hit them. :bash: They didn't have any excuse as to why they didn't immediately relocate.
You show up even earlier than I do! :yike:
-
we show up early for this very reason. but this was bad....they literally showed up at 6am, legal shoot was 635 (if i remember correctly)...then walked through the marsh not 15 yrds from our decoy spread 10 min before shoot time...even AFTER we shined them with out lights. not like you couldn't see us or the decoys sitting in the ONLY open water that wasn't frozen.
oh well...lesson learned i guess. would have been a bad lesson learned for them had i let Gasman do what he wanted to do...lol :yike:
