As of the 9th of November I can proudly and happily say I am back from Afghanistan and will never go back. I came home to a 6 day old baby boy, my beautiful wife, and 3 year old daughter. Truly thankful for everything I have. But there is no time to waste, late archery season is approaching and I have a lot of time in the woods to make up. Gong to be hunting the base for deer and the Winston for elk. I've never hunted the Winston, but from what I can gather there's plenty of animals just have to deal with the hoards of people and get off of the roads. It's probably going to be more of a learning experience/scouting trip for next year more than anything but hey, maybe the traditional bow gods will be smiling upon me while i'm out there.
If anyone wants to throw a tip my way about the Winston I would appreciate it, if not then I can't wait to get in there and start figuring it out for myself.
I also would like to thank all the HuntWa members who posted pictures/stories/and any general banter on the site as it made being away from the the things I love a little easier. You guys are awesome.

Welcome home, and thank you for your service. I don't know the Winston well enough to offer any advice, but I do hope the traditional archery gods smile upon you.

Thanks all! I couldn't be happier being back home and with my family. I love this weather and everything about the NW. It does help that I grew up in Oregon.
Counting down the days until the late archery opener.
