Title: Need a gunsmith
Post by: LeeMajors on November 19, 2012, 07:34:18 AM: My father in law's place was broken into a few weeks back and they stole some pistols and other things. They didn't manage to get into his gun case, so when we were visiting this weekend he asked us to bring them home. (he also hasn't shot in several years so no reason to keep them he said)

Anyhow, two of the guns have a problem:

The .25-06 has an issue with the scope mounting. When the holes were drilled they were off, so the scope can't be adjusted far enough on the windage.
1. I need to get that fixed - suggestions on where to take that?

Now for the more difficult problem:
Another of the rifles is a Winchester 100 in .284. My friend tells me these are called jam-o-matics, and the weapon is in fact, jammed, with a live round chambered.
2. Is there anywhere I can take this to get fixed?
3. Is it worth actually getting fixed, or is it likely to just get jammed again?

I'm in the Bonney Lake area, so keep that in mind with your suggestions on where to go please.

Also got a few really fun coyote/target guns (22-250 and 218 B) as well as a 16 and 12 guage.

Yeah, that's the problem - it wouldn't fire, and has been stuck like that for a few years.

What kind of scope mount does the gun have? A 1 piece or two piece?
If a two piece does it look like this? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/796658/leupold-2-piece-standard-scope-base-mauser-98-matte (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/796658/leupold-2-piece-standard-scope-base-mauser-98-matte) IF so you can try adjust with the rear screw left or right. If you have the weaver style you can shim the front mount left or right with aluminum foil to get an idea how much to add. Once you obtain the correct thickness then make a shim out flat material then use JB weld to secure it permanently on the mount.
